Not acceptable for people with disabilities.

I have travelled, stayed in 5 star luxury hotels and lowly cheap motels. This “hotel” is pretentious and not acceptable for those who require rooms to accommodate disabilities. We have rented two rooms, one for my husband, son and brother the other for my mother and myself. My husband requires a walker and/or cane for mobility. We were placed on the tenth floor with no visible access to the stairway, and instructed that this is the accessible floor. Should a fire or emergency have occurred, my husband would not have been able to use the stairs to exit safely and quickly. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. We have “renovated” rooms, where the lights don’t work, there are holes in the covers and there’s only a bottom sheet on the bed. Although an extra sheet and cover were supplied in the closet, there are two of us in two separate beds. Thankfully my mother an I don’t mind sharing a bed. When I requested an extra sheet and blanket the person delivering them mocked our request. We were also, and more disturbingly mocked when we requested a more acceptable room for my husband. It must be noted that our request went unmet, without reason beyond “the tenth is the accessible floor”. I find this hotel to be under par in regards of disabled people, pretentious, and lacking. My family will NEVER spend another night in this high priced and over rated hotel. I am beyond disgusted, I am deeply disappointed that Toronto city inspectors would allow this kind of neglect and lack of empathy for the disabled to go unchecked. I would strongly advise other travelers to either save their money and stay in cheap motels where you get you money’s worth or truly grand five star hotels where again, you get your money’s worth. On a side note, I am not a fussy person, however I am cheap. I demand that I get my money’s worth. I, as is everyone who reads this review, am deserving of better quality than provided. If for no other reason than I am a person. My husband, and all other disabled people NEED to be treated with dignity. All people do. If you stay here, you don’t expect to be treated appropriately.

Little things could go a long way

The location of this hotel is pretty great for getting around Toronto, and the lobby presents well enough. The staff were mostly friendly, and we found housekeeping to be especially nice. That all said, the rooms themselves were average at best, and the lack of attention to minor issues is what brings our review down to just two stars. There was a total of three burnt out light bulbs in our room - accounting probably for half of all of the lights. The handle to slide the curtains open was busted, and most annoyingly, the bathroom fan didn't work. These are mostly small issues that could have been dealt with if the hotel paid a little more attention to detail. Collectively, they gave the sense that the hotel just didn't care that much. We have been using Air BnB for the past several years, since we can't usually afford hotels. I was really looking forward to being back in a hotel, but ended missing the attention paid at most Air BnBs. We were there for three nights and contemplated complaining, seeing if we could be moved, etc. but we were there for work and mostly just wanted to relax upon returning to our room, so we ended up just shrugging it off. It's quite possible that if we had said something, the hotel would have responded really well, so I take some responsibility here. But the fact that it was in this state in the first place, and even after housekeeping came in during our stay, is disappointing. Little things can go a long way and I think this could be a perfectly nice hotel if they simply paid a little more attention to detail. It's possible too, that only our room had these issues, in which case I would give the hotel three stars. If you want a reasonably priced hotel in downtown Toronto, and are willing to do a little whining if need be, then this is a perfectly fine place to stay. If you want really careful attention to detail, or a more luxurious hotel experience, this probably isn't the spot for you.
