AAA Four-Diamond Chateau hotel

Situated next door to the Parliament Buildings, Chateau Laurier is perhaps Ottawa’s most iconic hotel, dating from 1912 and designed in the French-Gothic chateau style. Inside and out, this hotel exudes period elegance, heralding from the Golden Age of hotel comfort. Charm and stateliness still reign supreme in this hotel but it has moved with the times too – there’s a modern fitness centre, up-to-date room facilities and even a tour guide app for exploring the hotel. Soaring high above the streets, this turreted masterpiece is beautifully positioned overlooking the Rideau Canal and set just minutes from plenty of top attractions. For an historic, luxurious stay in Ottawa look no further.

Old, classic, superb hotel

Toronto, Canada

I stayed at the Chateau Laurier, Ottawa, in July 2018. The experience was really good, from the check in process all the way to departing. If I have to criticize the hotel for something is for not being upfront with the parking situation. Due to construction in the building, the only parking option available is valet service, at a cost ($45 if I remember correctly), and the hotel fails to warn you about this DURING the reservation process. As it happened, my reservation didn't accept changes or cancellations, and only two days after booking I got an email from them informing me about the parking situation. Meaning: pay for valet service or else you're on your own. Very inconvenient, this should be upfront on their website so people can factor that in BEFORE making a reservation or not. Apart from that, the service and quality of the hotel are impeccable, attentive, efficient, professional. I fully enjoyed my stay in this hotel, and I will dare to offer a couple of suggestions: upgrade the closets in the room, the sliding doors and interiors are old and it shows. Also, the pool has seen better times, it needs a make over. It will be a challenge, since it's a reflection of the hotel's style and era but it needs some upgrades too. Overall, a superb hotel, in a superb location with a superb service.

Tim and Lisa's first stay at the Chateau Laurier

Belleville, Canada

Its a beautiful place to stay with amazing staff. The building has so much character. Next time we'd like to possibly stay in one of the known haunted rooms. The reception staff was so sweet and proficient. She was friendly and very nice. The Valet service was a treat for us.
