Always a pleasure to stay here

The Delta Hotels are our favourite chain, and the Ottawa Delta is a great choice for visitors to the city. Good downtown location, easy to get to a variety of restaurants and major sites. Excellent breakfast, clean rooms, modern decor— what’s not to like?

Family funeral and Delta Ottawa really stepped up for us.


If you see my prior review with respect to the Initial hotel that we booked into you would understand that we had to vacate a hotel room after an 6 hr drive with our 89-year-old mother suffering from dementia in a wheelchair and our 88 year old father who is an amputee with a prosthetic leg The other hotel did not provide us with a room that was conducive to their handicapped needs and they didn’t seem to care and almost left this on the side of the road. We contacted the Delta (Eleanor at the front desk) and they actually took us through a handicapped room before we even confirmed a booking so we could see what to expect. They were then able to provide us with a handicapped accessible room for our parents and they put us in an additional king room immediately across the hall with only five minutes notice. The staff were so friendly and gracious as we entered the hotel and they immediately offered us everything that we needed. We unpacked quickly and then went down to the Mezzanine level for a quick late night meal. We were quickly seated with our sister as well and then introduced to Gordon (9pm on Sunday August 12th) our waiter. He assisted us with the best possible table so our mom could be seated outside of her wheelchair and immediately told us what time the kitchen was closing and offered quicker service to us if we wished. We informed him about the other Hotel and our long drive and he said that we did not have to worry because we were now in “his” Delta Hotel and we would be fine moving forward. We put in the order for drinks and appetizers and he quickly moved off to get everything for us. It was at this time that we realized that I had parked our SUV at the front doors of the hotel in the valet parking area and I had not made arrangements for parking. When he returned I informed him of this error on my part at which time he said not to worry and he went down to the main floor to address this issue with the front desk. Less than 5 minutes later he returned and introduced us to a front desk staff member and she then offered her services. That employee then noticed our mother and her wheelchair and asked if we would be using the valet service. I told her that we would be and she then took our keys and told us not to worry about anything at all. She said that they would resolve any issues pertaining to our vehicle at the concierge desk and that if they had to move our suv that we could call for it at anytime and they would bring it to the door. During our visit we had numerous conversations with the staff and over the next 2 1/2 days our vehicle remained in one of the easily accessible, yet limited spaces out front so we could get quick and easy access for our parents. Our family was in town for the funeral of an immediate family member and the Delta hotel made everything so much easier for us. I truly wish to thank each and every one of their staff The continental breakfast offered numerous items including a full yogurt station, smoked salmon with capers and hard boiled eggs. It was reasonably priced and the staff? Well you can say that they were superb throughout. The tall doorman had a contagious smile and he would see our parents coming and he would almost run to the door to assist us with her chair and my father with his cane. We informed our waiter when we were in the restaurant that my wife and I had been planning a holiday in Vancouver in October and we couldn’t decide where we were going to stay. He understood that the $395 per night pricing for the Delta hotel in Vancouver for October 11th would be at the edge of our comfort zone but we told him that after the service we were given in Ottawa we would start saving to ensure that we could stay there as well in the hopes of receiving the same quality of service. Again, thank you so very much. Our family was struggling mentally with our loss and we needed no stress. The Military helped us so much with the initial funeral in Burlington and then the military supported interment at Beechwood was just perfect and so respectful. The staff at The Delta in Ottawa all need to be commended for their incredible empathy, care and quality shown to us and just for reminding us that we had a greater support team in place.
