Anniversary Visit August 18th

Seattle, Washington

This is one of my all time favorite hotels, anywhere. I can’t make lenough positive comments about this hotel. I specifically chose this hotel for its’ terrific location. Some of the other reviews have called it active and busy. True, but I would describe the hotel as updated and vibrant, with a major splash of elegance. I never felt cramped or stress, in fact I thought the ambiance struck a difficult balance very successfully. When I initially called I mentioned our Anniversary would be celebrated at the hotel. The concierge and staff really outdid themselves. We arrived and had a phenomenal room on the top floor with a lovely bottle of champagne and a personal note from the hotel manager: even with the smoke the view was breathtaking. The bed was comfy, room impeccably clean and large by Vancouver standards, service attentive, without intrusion. Fabrics were of the highest quality. Nightly turndown was lovely. The staff had a nice bottle of chilled champagne for us, and checked in to assure our visit was in order. We can’t say enough positive comments about this hotel and its’ staff. The location, close to the water, was great as it provided everything we wanted: a view of the water with top restaurants 5 to 10 minute walk. Thanks to Fairmont Vancouver Waterfront! Best Anniversary ever, largely due to the Concierge who made all our arrangements and the staff who pampered us! Thank you again, and see you next year! I’m attempting to post a pano pic from our room, taken during the smoke. The smoke will go away, and this picture will hopefully give you an idea of the spectacular views of the harbor. I’m grateful to the staff for such a spectacular room and going so far out of their way to make certain we had a tremendous weekend. See you next year. We’ll be back. No doubt.

Good location, horrendous sound issues

The location is pretty good, if you're interested in cruises and convention center. But that attracts a party atmosphere, and after paying 600 CAD/night for the room, I'm extremely disappointed with this hotel. The room itself is very nice and we had a good view of the harbor. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing - great rain shower with wand, and solid shower pressure. Not to mention, great Le Labo toiletries. The desk was smartly built with a stowaway compartment to plug in your electronics. The issue came with the total lack of noise barrier from what was going on in the hallway. I guess the people staying next to/around us had multiple people staying with them, coming and going at all hours of the night. Every time a door slammed, we woke up. It sounded exactly like you were living in a cheap apartment in a college town. We stayed here because we had a 7 am flight and had to be up at 4 am, but got virtually no sleep at all. Based on this experience, I would never book with a Fairmont again. It felt like an absolute ripoff. I would've told the receptionist at check-out, but she didn't ask us how our stay was. I honestly don't think I've ever spent this much on a hotel room and had such a rotten night's sleep and yes, I'm still pretty sore about it.
