Location, Location, Location

In the center of it all , near the water, fairies, convention ctr across the street, a 10 min walk to Gas Town, view of the water and north shore mountains. Staff was very helpful, courteous and interested in how your stay was.

A stay marred by hassles checking in and checking out

Ottawa, Canada

Before I arrived, the hotel reached out to me (I am a member of their loyalty club) to ask when I would be arriving. I said early, and they promised to do their best to make arrangements. When I arrived, that promise had vanished from the system, and I had to wait more than two hours for my room to be ready. They sent up some chocolates and gave me a voucher for a free drink. On check out I was presented a bill showing I had been charged $25 a nght more than the rate my corporate booking agent had secured. I challenged this and was told it had been "adjusted". I told them I had never ever heard of a rate being adjusted and they quickly reverted to the sum I had been promised. I then told them I was unimpressed and they agreed to write off one of the dinners I had had at the restaurant. So full marks to them for quickly making amends when things went wrong but this did rather mar my stay. The room was pleasant, clean and large, although the heating system clanked a bit every time it came on and the hot water at night was at best very warm. The location is perfect: right on the water front opposite the conference and convention centres.
