So Much For Customer Loyalty

San Mateo, California

I have been going to Painter's Lodge annually to fish for over 20 years. When I called six months ahead of time to make my usual reservation, I was told that Painter's did not have a single boat available for any of the four days that we had scheduled for the trip. I was informed that I would have to find my own guide - which I did. However, when I communicated with Painter's, I was informed that their's was a "private dock" and that I could not use it with a non-Painter's boat. The private dock excuse was simply untrue - I have seen private boats load and unload at the Painter's dock on many occasions. I asked for an exception for long time clients and was told "NO!" Neither would Painter's process my fish or provide the complimentarty breakfast and lunch that I would have received if I was on one of their boats. So, much to my disappointment, I cancelled the reservation. All that they had to do was make one small exception to their "private dock policy" (which is really not a policy) and I could have lived with the rest of the issues. But under their new ownership/management, I guess old customers are just that - old.

Duncan, Canada

Had a great time with excellent food and service. The New Year package was comprehensive and well planned and very well attended. Staff were attentive and friendly and so completed the overall fully satisfactory experience.
