Activities in Banff

Your ultimate adventure playground

There's plenty to keep you busy and active while visiting Banff; from the adrenaline-fuelled to the sedate.

From shorter hikes to more challenging trails, holidays in Banff are all about exploring the beautiful great outdoors. Soak up your surroundings on a stroll along the Bow River, crossing the bridge to find Bow Falls, or explore the mountain tunnels, wooden footbridges and cliff faces of the Johnston Canyon route. You can also climb the steep Bourgeau Lake trail to be rewarded with stunning views of Mount Bourgeau.

A leisurely raft or boat trip down Bow River is one of the most pleasant ways to see the towering grandeur of the Rockies, as well as the beavers, elks and ospreys that live on and around the water. Far less relaxing is the adrenaline rush of Kicking Horse River, with rapids that were surely made for white-water rafting.

With three ski resorts, Banff National Park is also one of Canada's top snowsport destinations. Lake Louise is the second largest ski resort in the country; Sunshine Village challenges skiers with terrain like Delirium Dive and Wild West; and small but steep Mount Norquay is one of the oldest resorts in Canada.
