Not fancy but pretty good for Jasper

Plesant Prairie, WI

This is an older motel-style property (like 60's-early 70's) that is fairly well kept up. The room was basically furnished and things were pretty much clean and worked as they should. The lobby is being redone but you don't stay in the lobby. The old style room keys may be a concern for some and understandably so. On-site restaurant but seemed to be a bit pricey (the norm for Jasper). Jasper has no shortage of places to dine but they tend to be at both extremes: pricey or basic. Grocery store prices are higher than Alaska or Iceland. I wound up at Tim Horton's a lot because, well, they have good baked stuff for breakfast and great soups for lunch. I would stay at this hotel again (and eat again at Tim's or Lou Lou's Pizza).

Our Hotel of Choice in Jasper

Whenever we have come to Jasper as a family in the cooler seasons for the last several years, we have stayed at Marmot Lodge. We like it because it is out of the way of the mainstream traffic, fairly quiet, beds are comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I especially like the kitchenette suites when we came as a family. It's nice to have the pool, hottub and sauna as an added feature. The only drawback for us this time was the thermostat in the room did not work. We like it a little cooler at night. Yes, we could open the window some, but I'm very environmental and don't like the energy wastage. We did, but it didn't help alot.
