Great hotel!

Rochdale, United Kingdom

Not our first trip to Banff but our first time staying so far up Banff Ave. We booked a corner loft suite which was fab, well worth the upgrade cost. Downstairs was some clothes storage, toilet with huge vanity unit and living room with fireplace and fridge. Upstairs was a bedroom with large bed and jacuzzi tub and a bathroom with shower. We checked in to find a bottle of wine and card left in the room for us which was a lovely touch. All members of staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. There was a new starter in the bar (can't remember his name, sorry!) who always gave us great service and we very much enjoyed a few leisurely drinks in the afternoon with him serving. Housekeeping, however, was very hit and miss. We had to request to have things cleaned and I was a little surprised to find that after a cut bleeding in the night, the bed was made up the next day with the same bloody sheets. Not very nice! Then after asking for a bath mat for the shower, housekeeping weirdly left us 23 bath towels, 8 hand towels and 8 face cloths. Not really sure what that was all about, but it gave us an almighty laugh anyway. I think the housekeeping issues are probably due to the amount of time they have available rather than a lack of attention, by the way. The walk into town was a pleasant 10 minutes or so, but we also got free Roam passes for the bus which is every half hour with timetables available in the lobby. The Keg was great, as ever. Breakfast can become a little samey so we chose not to have it every day. Steaks were always cooked to perfection though, and the bar food was also great. The spa is also great, I had a fantastic treatment from Deepika (sorry if name slightly wrong, my memory isn't the best!) and the hot pool is lovely, though very chlorinated! We'd happily stay again here as it has everything we need and more. Ski bus stops right outside and it's one of the first stops so never struggle for a seat. There is a coin laundry in the basement and each floor has a vending and ice machine.

Comfortable and Affordable

Kincumber, Australia

This is the second time I have had the pleasure of staying in this hotel. The rooms, while not overly large, are comfortable. My partner and I were only there for a few nights, but we had everything we needed. The walk to the shops, while not far, can feel a lot further in the winter snow. It is at the end of the main strip of hotels, so that might put you off if you don't want to walk. Regardless, it is only a couple of blocks so you are still very close to everything. Car parking is underground which is great when snowing but, like many such car parks, can be a little tight. We had no problems, but those with larger vehicles might find it difficult if they're not used to it. It's easily accessible via the hotel lift. The lounge area in the foyer is a popular place to sit and read in front of the fire, or rest after a day on the snowfields. You can also go into the bar in The Keg. We ate in The Keg at night, and always had great meals. They were not too expensive (compared to Australia) and were a reasonable size. I would suggest booking a table at night as it can get busy. The staff were all really friendly. I would recommend this hotel for couples and families alike as something that is comfortable and affordable whilst close to everything.
