The Plaza de Mayo

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Buenos Aires holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

Tucked away in the centre of Buenos Aires, the grassy, bustling Plaza de Mayo is filled with history, having served as the hotspot for many of Argentina's most violent protests during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The area has become a focal point for political significance; mass demonstrations were held here in the 1940's surrounding the incarceration of Juan Domingo Perón, and again in the 1980's following Argentina's invasion of the Falkland Islands.

Today, the square is a popular tourist attraction for those visiting Buenos Aires, and is surrounded by other major landmarks including the Buenos Aires financial district and the city hall.
