A truly amazing place

Guildford, United Kingdom

Probably the best place I've ever visited. The hospitality on the island was fantastic. Everyone is incredibly friendly. It was quite a trek coming from the UK but worth every minute. The ride was finished with a jet boat over to the island which we did at night, the sky with all the stars was magical. Our villa was clean. The style and décor is low key and unpretentious. We stayed in the room by the infinity pool - wow what a view. there was so much to do on The island, it turned out to be a very active holiday. The hiking is great. The beach is a 15 minute walk away as the hotel is elevated however there are taxi buggies to escort you if you don't fancy it. The beach is very well equipped with canoes paddle boards etc. There are changing rooms on the beach and a nice bar. The snorkelling was fantastic, again all equipment provided. We went on a snorkelling excursion which was well worth it. The food was absolutely fantastic! I am a big foodie and every meal was something to look forward to. The buffet breakfast is rich and very varied. Lunch was again a buffet with salads fish meats and lovely desserts. Dinner was a 3 course meal. I would go back again for the food alone!

The BVI as it was...

Washington DC

Very low key, like staying on your own private island, with a fabulous staff. Food was excellent, with portions and menu choices that were excellent and intelligent. Seven great beaches, 12 miles of trails, luxurious but very simple rooms, L'Occitane bathroom amenities, great bar. Don't go if you want a scene, other people much around, or throbbing music. Go if you like candle lit dinners in the trade winds overlooking tranquil seas and yachts at anchor. There is an excellent spa, and Lissa aka "Hands of Steel" is a great spa therapist (highly recommended, and we are picky). Zero complaints. Quiet bliss.

Facilities

Hiking Trails

Meander through Guana Island's beautiful mountains, hills and valleys on the 12 mile hiking trail. On the way you will pass Long Man's Point, where you can take a dip in the cliff-side natural pool. For the more adventurous souls, there is Sugarloaf Mountain's 806-foot summit, reach the top and you are rewarded with a panoramic view of the surrounding islands.

Organic Orchard

Take a tour around Guana's organic orchard where a cornucopia of luscious tropical fruits is thriving. Whilst the orchard's harvest can be found daily in the dining room, there is nothing better than fruit straight from the tree.

Castaway Picnic

Spend a magical afternoon on a glistening white sandy beach with a special picnic and plenty of chilled wine, in complete privacy. An experience you will remember forever.

Seven Beaches

The Club

Surrounded by jasmine, this 18th Century hilltop building serves cocktails each evening. At The Club you can dine under the stars on a candle-lit terrace, mingle with other guests or simply curl up with a good book in the library.

Tennis

Guana Island has two tennis courts, one Omni court and one Hydro court complete with racket hire.

Watersports

Life in the British Virgin Islands is all about the water and Guana Island is no different. There are three very distinct dive sites, White Bay's reefs are home to over 125 varieties of tropical reef fishes and Muskmelon Bay's Crab Cove is the perfect place to swim with large, oceanic fishes like tuna and king mackerel. North Bay is the spot for experienced divers looking for deep reefs and wrecks, whilst Monkey Point on Guana's southerly tip is a must for snorkelers. If you prefer to stay above the water there are boat charters available for full and half day cruises.Explore the caves onNorman Island, otherwise know as Treasure Island, and take a swim at Pirate’s Bight. Or else end theday with cocktails on an sunset cruise to nowhere in particular. If you chase the sunset long enough, you may be lucky enough tothe elusive Green Flash.

Massage and Yoga

Unwind with a massage on White Bay Beach, with nothing to distract you but the gentle breeze and the sound of the waves. Skilled therapists are on hand to indulge you with a full-body massage or special treatment. Or let the spa services come to you and treat yourself to an in-room treatment. Focus the mind and arrange a private or group yoga session in the aptly named Garden of Eden.
