Desert & Delta Safaris

The perfect family adventure holiday

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing Okavango Delta holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

Desert and Delta are one of the leading companies for family safaris in Africa. They do not just accept children, they actively encourage you to bring them on safari and then they tailor your holiday and safari experiences around their needs to make sure you and your children get the best memories possible. Bringing children on safari is a fantastic way for them to see and learn about wildlife and Botswana.

Arriving into your first camp, the Desert & Delta team (who have been trained to work with children) will give them a 'safari' rucksack containing activity books, check-lists and various surprises to keep them entertained through their stay, it also means they can get excited right from the start. Over the course of the next few days you will go on thrilling excursions ranging from donkey cart village tours to mokoro (canoe) racing, fishing trips and local school visits, plus safari activities such as game drives and safari walks looking for amazing animals and their tracks. All activities are planned around and adapted to your family’s wishes with each camp having a dedicated family host to assist with the planning of meal times and activities (activities vary dependant on lodges and time of year).

The Ultimate Family Safari allows you to choose a combination of lodges and areas that you want to visit and experience with your family. Choose from 4, 6 or 8 nights staying at up to four different camps and lodges in some of the greatest best safari areas that Botswana offers. A suggested itinerary is shown on the 'Detailed Itinerary' tab and is one possible combination and is designed to show you how a tour could work.

Some of the key areas you can visit include the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, the stunning Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, Savute and Chobe National Park which is famed for its elephants. You and your family visit Botswana’s most iconic and spectacular destinations in a trip that many will agree is a holiday of a lifetime. The rooms within each camp will be arranged to accommodate your family based on the number of people and their ages.

Desert and Delta will accept children from the ages of 6 up and are happy to configure rooms to accommodate various family sizes wherever possible.
