Moremi Wildlife Reserve

Botswana's lesser know gem

The Moremi Wildlife Reserve, including the Khwai River floodplains, is the perfect setting to discover the amazing wildlife of Botswana, offering the perfect opportunity for safaris by day or night. Named after Chief Moremi of the Ba Tawana tribe, the game reserve has many interesting facets. It’s the only protected area of the Okavango Delta and the first to be established by local residents, plus it is said to be one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa.

The Moremi Wildlife Reserve boasts a unique and diverse ecosystem, whose seasonally or perennially wet floodplains are best explored by mokoro (dugout canoe). As your boatman guides you expertly along, you’ll discover the abundance of wildlife contained within the lagoons, grasslands and riverine forests offering unique game and birdwatching opportunities. Watch carefully and you might be lucky enough to spot both a white and a black rhino, recently reintroduced to the region.
