Quick getaway

Long Island, New York

Great place to stay! Our oceanfront room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast every morning was delicious. Fruit was fresh and eggs were cooked perfectly. Tito and Alecia made the pool bar extra fun. Snorkeling in front of hotel was good and water sports was an extra bonus. The hotel was not crowded and all staff were so friendly. Water taxi service was a bonus. We used it to snorkel in front of the Colony Club, which is beautiful. Then swam right in the next door to marine park with lots of fish and easy snorkeling. We walked to Holetown from Colony Club and enjoyed rum punch at Surf Side, a little bar right on the beach. Then walked back to Colony Club and took water taxi to hotel. Lots of fun. We used the local buses to get into town and enjoy different bars and meals. Just Grillin was delicious. Connie's food stand on weekends for take out was inexpensive and great. Just head north and you will see him. Great place to visit.

7 Days of Relaxation and Fun! Wonderful service and food.

We had a great time at Tamarind. The hotel was more than we expected mostly because of the great service. The hotel is just wonderful! 3 pools, great beach with snorkeling, water sports, and beautiful gardens and grounds. Breakfast is included and it is wonderful - especially the omelette station run by Esther and Deborah making every type of eggs you ask for. ( with a cooking lesson free of charge!) When we arrived our room had a traditional bathtub (kind of higher up than normal) and with my knee replacement it was difficult to get into- one word to the manager and he had us in a new room with a walk in shower- that day! One of the best things the hotel.has is the Kids Club. Our daughter went the first morning and wanted to go back everyday. Three teachers run a kids club with activities and games for kids in a safe secure area accessed by your room key. Our daughter went the first day ( starts at 10am - a break for lunch - and ends at 5. The kids made painted t shirts, pottery, and played games. They have snorkeling and beach activities, pool games, and at night they have kids movies. One night they had a kids movie in the Kids Club, and we were at the bar about to have dinner. A waiter from the 246 bar served our daughters food to her at the Kids Club while she was watching the movie! When we returned home we got an email from the ladies from Kids Club thanking our daughter for coming! Just every detail of the hotel caters to families perfectly. Another day we were out on the beach and a guy from the hotel brought around delicious icepops - just keeping the guests cool. The Only thing negative I could say about Tamarind is the food prices. Kids stay and eat free- the kids menu is great- but they hiked up the adult food prices to compensate I think. The only time drinks are reasonable is happy hour. ( I think I paid 10$us for a glass of rum punch not at happy hour.) The restaurant is expensive, but they have a little bit more reasonable priced food and good menu at the 246 Bar. ( the lunches there are good) The food is pricey But Delicious - you are on a Caribbean vacation its to be expected. We took day trips around the island, and the front desk called and booked us on a catamaran trip to swim with turtles. The area around the hotel has some nice restaurants and grocery stores. Overall a great vacation! My wife has already looked up prices for us to return next year! Thanks Tamarind!
