Many prices are quoted in US Dollars rather than the Bajan version, so be careful not to get confused. UK debit and credit cards can be used at most establishments and cash machines. And traveller's cheques are accepted by all banks and most hotels. Always keep cash handy though, especially for tipping, street vendors and smaller outlets.

The official currency is the Barbados Dollar, also known as the Bajan Dollar. You can buy any amount of Bajan Dollars before you go. Just be aware that you may need to declare them on arrival. If you want to exchange money on the island, commercial banks like the Barbados National Bank offer the best rates. You will also find currency exchanges at the airport and in larger hotels.
