March 2019 trip

York, Pennsylvania

This was our 7th trip and best trip to Sandals Emerald Bay. Best experience ever. We booked our 9th trip for March 2020. We cannot wait until we return in November 2019. The golf course is the best we ever played and he staff is fantastic.

Awful trip!

We had gone to Sandals Negril last year and loved it so much that we decided to explore other islands in the Caribbean staying at Sandals resorts. This trip was absolutely terrible. The beach was so rough that we could not get in and plastic washed up with every single wave. It made being in the water unsafe and disgusting as it wrapped around your legs. We thought we would at least go in the pool and look at the blue water, but the main pool was so cold that you couldn't stand to get in. Then we tried to go diving but the dive staff was put out that we asked and kept the red flag up every day even when it was calm. The room we paid for was under repair and they moved us to another that, though it was a bit bigger, was close enough to the party pool that the thumping of the music was felt. So many of the staff were rude and seemed annoyed to help. When we had mentioned this to a taxi driver, she told us that they have to import workers from Jamaica because most Bahamians are rude and lazy (she was a native, so she wasn't being biased). The excursion we took turned into a disaster as when they dropped us off on our "desert island" for the day, the food they packed was filled with water and inedible. And speaking of food, I have Celiac's which was not an issue at Sandals Negril, but this resort made it very stressful for me to eat and told me I needed to let them know a day ahead of time what and when I would want to eat. Isn't the point of vacation to not have to plan ahead? The only bright spot of the entire vacation was our butlers, Garth and Mark. These native Jamaicans tried to fix everything they could for us and we enjoyed visiting with them immensely. Other than that, the whole trip was a mess and we will never go back. We were both very disappointed because after visiting Jamaica for years, we had finally stayed at Sandals for the first time last year in Negril and were so excited to try others. After this, we don't know if we're willing to risk our money and time again at another Sandals resort. We were actually glad to be leaving there and coming home to sleep in a bed that wasn't like a board and for me to be able to eat again without issue. Sandals need to send some folks to this resort and get it in shape. If you're debating about coming here based on the pictures of the still, beautiful water and smiling staff, do not waste your hard earned money or time!
