Restaurant is just so-so

Alexandria, Virginia

We spent Christmas Dinner here, and it was just ok, but not great. Perhaps that's the best to expect on the island? No fresh fish for Christmas dinner, all frozen fish. ugh! some had Snapper, some had mahi. Both looked the same and both were like hard blocks - certainly frozen! And, to top it off. The restaurant uses MSG in something because 2 from our party were allergic and were up all night with the affects. I will not go back, but do recognize that restaurants on Elbow Cay (which is beautiful!) are limited. Lesson... cook at home, significantly better! Granted, my husband is a wonderful chef. On a different day, we visited the beachfront restaurant and bar. we were going to have lunch, but since no one seemed interested in serving us, we ordered a beer, and took it to go. I think service is just a bit uninterested on the island. Please know we are very easy going travelers, but do recognize a place that either wants to help you enjoy a nice experience or doesn't give a hoot. The views are very nice though and the location on the island is right in the middle and easy to get to.

Great Trip

Mt. Pleasant, SC

We had a wonderful trip to Hope Town last week and could not have been happier with Hope Town Harbour Lodge. We were in one of the cottages and it met all of our expectations. All staff members were a joy to interact with and in all cases were extremely helpful. We dined in both restaurants and found the food top notch. Rent a golf cart so you can enjoy the entire island. Firefly and Abaco Inn are well worth visiting for cocktails/dining but require transportation.
