Very Friendly, relaxing vacation

My family just returned from a five night "All-Inclusive" stay at Manchebo. It proved to be a great getaway from the cold and snow of Wisconsin. I decided to break the review down into the positives and negatives. First the positives. #1: The staff. The people at Manchebo could not be more friendly and attentive. Nice welcome and delicious mojitos upon arrival. Ignacio at the Pege Pega is "the Man"! Very affable and genuine. Stephanie and Carmen at Ike's Bistro were super friendly and attentive. Majida and Andrew at the front desk were so helpful in with all our questions and plans for touring the island. Lourdes in the gift shop reminded me of my mom. Enough said! #2: Location. Manchebo is a smaller resort located on the best beach in Aruba. Big and beautiful and quiet compared with some of the other areas we saw. #3: Restaurants. The food was excellent! Although I wish the breakfast buffet was better with more choices, the rest of the day/evening choices were very good. Pega Pega serves wonderful food during the day. Highly recommend Ike's and the Chophouse. Excellent food and service! #4: Safe environment. We vacation frequently in Jamaica. Aruba is a polar opposite. We felt very safe off resort. We ventured off the resort several times and never felt nervous or concerned. The negatives? Small but a concern. #1: All-Inclusive? This is the type of vacation we ALWAYS take. I was surprised how Manchebo was different from other resorts. The rooms, which are very clean, yet smaller, are not stocked with beverages? We had to go to the gift shop daily and purchase soda, juice, Chill and Balashi (Aruba's local beers). In addition, and what we thought annoying was to sign a tab every time we bought a drink or ordered food. We all wore the customary wristbands but still had to sign and felt somewhat compelled to then leave a tip each time...which we did (added up to over $300!). For the price we paid (six people) for our vacation, I didn't expect this. #2 The pool. Although not a big deal for us, we prefer the beach but Manchebo's pool is very small. There is no pool bar. In short, would we return? Loved the island and it's people. Compared with the location of the other resorts we walked past or saw, we liked Manchebo. Again, the staff are 5-Star and maybe if it becomes a truly "all-inclusive" resort, we'd love to come back.

Hidden Gem in Paradise

Visited Aruba for four nights. The hotel is located on the low rise about 15 min from airport. The hotel is About 10 minute cab ride from the High Rise section. Aruba is made for easy traveling. There is a convenience market, a casino, a coffee shop and some other shops directly across from Manchebo which is great. The hotel grounds were great and the service was excellent. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Check in and Check out is effortless. The rooms are outdated which is probably my only complaint. They are standard. The bathroom is somewhat updated with a rain hat in the shower. The pool is nice and kept clean. But you really come here for the beach. The food is exceptional. Breakfast Buffet is great. The Chop House was delicious. The coffee at chop house is my favorite coffee I have ever had. Pega Pega for lunch was great too. The fish tacos are a must. Dinner at Ike’s was ok. I ordered the surf and turf and was a bit disappointed. The service was good and the setting at the pool is romantic. Manchebo is quiet with low key entertainment. Older crowd. You are feet away from the beach which is impeccably clean and immaculate. It’s a place to relax and unwind. They have some Hammocks on the grounds.Wish they had more staff on the beach when ordering food. You have to raise a flag when you want to order and it does take some time. The beach is completely safe and so peaceful and tranquil. You can walk in either direction for about 25 Minutes. They have some local beach bars in both directions. We ran every morning and felt completely safe. We rented a Jeep and it was super easy to tour the island one day. Ordering a cab is quick and fast. Overall it was such a great easy peaceful stay.
