true paradise

New York City, New York

this was our first trip to Aruba and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice of resort. Bucuti & Tara set the perfect blissful tone for our nine day vacation. Bucuti is a modern & green resort situated on the picturesque eagle beach. we stayed in the Tara Suite (3rd floor) and we had a perfect view of the ocean from our balcony. what makes this place stand out to me is the level of service and friendliness of the staff. everyone took such good care of us. we were first time visitors, but by day two it felt like everyone knew our names and greeted us like friends. i especially looked forward to seeing Beverley and Orville everyday, i’m not sure i’ve met kinder and sweeter souls. the white sand beach is spectacularly perfect, and the chairs and umbrellas are plentiful. the spacing between set ups is generous and you will never feel crowded. now... the chair game. if you are a nut like me and want front row chairs, it’s gonna cost you...precious hours of sleep. officially the towel hut opens at 7am. you can leave your stuff on the chairs and no one will move your belongings if you go to breakfast (or let’s be honest, go back to bed) the problem is, is that all the front row chairs will be gone by 7. i knew this before our stay and was prepared for battle. for front row, i would say you should be stumbling out in the dark no later than 6am, and stay (or sleep like a vagabond covered in a single towel like i did) in the chair until 7am. if you leave before 7 security will remove your stuff. i am not an early riser naturally and this is decidedly my least favorite activity in the resort world, but i have to say it was worth it for an unobstructed view of those glittering turquoise waters. now with a beach like that, it’s going to be hard for the pool to compete. but it’s like the pool at Bucuti was an afterthought. it’s almost forgotten, tucked away behind Elements. i love some pool time, but i found it to be lacking. for starters the jacuzzi in the corner is sadly not a jacuzzi anymore, but filled with the same (too chilly) water as the rest of the pool. next, the entire length of the pool is too deep, i wasn’t able to stand anywhere besides the steps. and while we did enjoy commandeering brightly colored floaties around the pool, our course at the mercy of the tradewinds, making the early evening guests of Elements slightly uncomfortable as they watched us careen about a bottomless pool, we typically stuck to the beach. as for drinks, Sandbar and it’s friendly bartenders were great, i think they make the best piña coladas i’ve ever had. we loved watching the sunsets right from the deck, it’s really set up perfect so that people can lounge comfortably to watch the sun go down behind the ocean. also, next to Sandbar, are my favorite birds on the island. if you happen to visit, please tell Paco i miss him very much. the guests at Bucuti are older, and we were easily the youngest couple there during our stay. this was fine with me, especially after visiting palm beach for the day, i was grateful to return to the peace and serenity surrounding this resort and its clientele. our fellow guests were pleasant, quiet, and loyal to this resort. I can’t think of one other couple we spoke to that had been to Bucuti no less than 5 times. that really speaks volumes about a place, and it was cool to walk down our hallway to see so many little signs hung up on guest doors exclaiming “welcome back!” all in all, i can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Aruba as a couple, and we can’t wait to return to Bucuti & Tara to find our own little sign on our door that says “welcome back”.

4th and fabulous!

Baltimore, Maryland

This is our fourth year staying at Bucuti & Tara. It’s like coming home. The staff welcomes you with smiles and open arms. I’ve never stayed anywhere where I have felt so loved and taken such care of. So much attention to details. The property is beautiful and pristine. The rooms are gorgeous. The restaurant is amazing and the beach is the best! But the staff, hands down is the best part of Bucuti & Tara. When they say ‘Welcome home’, they truly mean it from the heart! Counting the days until next year!
