Laid back beach life

Glenview, Illinois

Upon arrival it was after office hours so an envelope with my name was taped on the office door with instructions for entering the casita. Initially I was surprised, but I realize later Aruba is the "happy island" and they are laid back because not a lot of worry about crime. The casita itself was spacious, very clean, brightly decorated with all the amenities you need. Absolutely no issue with the air conditioning. Parking was never an issue and I dont think they would mind if you parked in some of the grass borders by the west wall if all spots taken. We didn't use the kitchen much besides the coffee maker but you can prepare a meal. A nice bottle of wine and a carafe of ice tea is also a nice welcome. There is also a microwave which we used to heat up our leftovers, as we ate out every night since there are a variety of great restaurants on the island and didn’t feel like cooking for 2 people. Plenty of other guest barbecued on their patios. I thought breakfast was perfect (pictured). Since we rented a car, our plan was to see all the good beaches and snorkeling spots on the island. The owners/desk managers are very pleasant and gave us great recommendations on where to go and offer adjustable chairs, snorkeling equipment (we brought our own), and beach towels for your trip. Along with the cooler (ice packs and two ice trays in the freezer provided) and after a quick trip to Super Foods (bring your own bag) we were off to the many gorgeous places on the island. You do really need swimming shoes (lots of shallow rocky entry points) and fins would have helped to go further out into the ocean but you can make your swim as risky as you want. We felt very safe almost all of the time but you can get to some further "drop off" spots where the currents are dangerous. Snorkeling with countless colorful fish and beautiful turquoise water with sunny days is exactly how I want to start my vacation day... then back to the comfortable beds at Boardwalk for a nap, the hammock was also used plenty. A few times we used the Palm Beach palapas next to the Ritz which really is a short walk (or drive because if you are early there are parking spots practically on the beach). It is very easy to get service from the Ritz (ropa vieja nachos!) and all the poplar beach excursions are just steps away. You can rent kayaks, paddle board (or take morning yoga on the paddle boards), para sail, kite surf, wind surf etc. You get a discount at the Ritz and also next door at the rental spot. If you wanted to relax and read on a beautiful beach then you will have company. So having said all those great things, imo there were just some small things which detract: There is no Sunday housekeeping service and the office is not open. They don't even check voicemail till Monday (not that I blame them!). You can’t get fresh towels if you return after 5 on Saturday until Monday after 9 AM. Casita 1-3 are louder than the others since they are next to the street. If you are a light sleeper then it might affect your sleep. But none of these reasons make the Boardwalk anything less than excellent. I would love to come back with kids and/or friends. Can you tell I miss it?

Relaxing Trip to Aruba

New Jersey

Truly lovely place to stay with the most caring staff. We stayed in a one bedroom casita, next to the pool. Room was spacious, extremely clean, and comfortable! Kitchen stove top was easy to use to make breakfast. Iced tea was a nice surprise in our room each morning! Thank you again! :) Walk to the beach was short and was a nice treat away from large high rise hotels. Palapas were easily booked with front desk when arranged in advance. Would love to come back with our children!
