Transfer to Buenos Aires airport for your flight to Ushuaia. Upon arrival in Ushuaia which is the world's southernmost city, transfer to your hotel for the next two nights. Ushuaia is home to the End of the World Museum, the old prison and many restaurants. We recommend the excellent spider crab if you like your seafood. A walk around the harbour is very interesting too, where many old boats can be seen.

This morning take a half day tour to the Tierra del Fuego National Park, where you will get the impression that time goes slower here than anywhere else. The long stormy winters and the width of the sky formed a very simple and modern way of living. The Tierra del Fuego National Park is crossed by many rivers which flow into the Beagle Channel. The Beagle Channel received its name due to the expedition led by Charles Darwin. You will pass through the Casco Island where nesting seabirds can be seen before continuing onto the Island Los Lobos to view sea lions.

In the afternoon drive along rustic and unpaved roads from Ushuaia city in northeast direction along National Road 3 and provincial route J to Estancia Harberton. Upon arrival at Harberton take a look around the farm and learn about its origins. The estancia was founded in 1886 by the Anglican missioner Thomas Bridges and it is the oldest building on the island. Later, you'll partake in a short sailing trip (15 mins. one way) aboard semi rigid boats in order to cross to Martillo Island. When you reach the island you will have the chance to see a colony of Magellan and Gentoo penguins, and get up close to them. Best penguin season is by mid-November till mid-April. Enjoy a walking tour spotting skuas (main penguin predator), albatrosses, petrels, cormorants, and other birds from the area. Return back to Estancia Haberton and board the semi rigid boat . Enjoy time at leisure to visit the birds and sea mammals museum before returning back to Ushuaia city (approx. two hours).

Transfer to the airport for your flight to El Calafate. On arrival in El Calafate, transfer to your hotel for the next two nights. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

Located at the centre of the town is a chapel dedicated to Santa Teresa. Behind this you will find Perito Moreno Street which gently climbs the large hill south of the town, from which one can see the silhouette of the south end of the Andes, the Redonda Lake and Soledad Island on Argentino Lake. It is the southern gateway to the Los Glaciares National Park, which is 50 km (31 miles) away. On the alluvial plain by the lake there are many interesting birds and in the other direction there is scope for good hill walking. Colourful cave paintings are also captivating. Alternatively there is an option to visit the Glaciarum Museum which is dedicated to ice and glaciers.

Experience a full day tour to the Perito Moreno Glacier today. Drive through the Los Glaciares National Park and arrive in a forest full of colours, before getting your first glance of the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the few glaciers that is still growing. Every four to five years it covers the gap between itself and the mainland, expanding into the Lago Argentino. Eventually, the ice can't resist the enormous pressure of the water and crashes with a frightening noise; not surprising considering the glacier is five kilometres long and 70 metres high. You can watch this spectacle every day when single ice blocks fall into the lake. You will have two hours here to experience the glacier before driving back to El Calafate.
