Bariloche Holidays

Called the 'Switzerland of the Andes', Bariloche is known for three things: stunning natural scenery, skiing, and chocolate. We love combining all three on our holiday in Bariloche. Get out into the magnificent, snow-capped mountains for a day of skiing down the powdery alpine slopes, then head back into Bariloche to the quaint chocolate stores that dot every street. Here we love sitting back in a rough-hewn, wooden chair as we sip a steaming cup of sweet hot chocolate.

  • Museo de la Patagonia

This interesting museum exhibits the social and geological history of Patagonia. Situated in Centro Cívico, the museum explores the region's natural history and population from ancient times to the present. Explore halls filled with exhibits of taxidermy, insects, the aboriginal Mapuche, Tehuelche, and Fuegian peoples, and Indian and gaucho artefacts.

  • Cerro Otto

The little red gondola car at Cerro Otto (Mount Otto) takes you to the top of the mountain in about 12 minutes. At the summit see sweeping views of the stunning Bariloche region sprawling beneath your feet. Make sure to head to the revolving restaurant at the summit where you can enjoy lunch while getting a 360-degree view of the area. In the winter hire cross-country skis and sleds from the cafeteria. For the more adventurous spirited, hike or mountain bike to the top of the mountain.

  • Nahuel Huapi National Park

Nahuel Huapi is a Mapuche word meaning 'Island of the Tiger'. This beautiful park is famous for its diverse environment, ranging from High Andean rainforest to Patagonian forest to Patagonian steepe. A nature lover's paradise, Nahuel Huapi is filled with stunning sights to see. In Encantado Valley see the curious rock formations eroded by wind, see Tronador Mountain and the black glacier, or take a boat trip to beautiful Victoria Island and immerse yourself in the outdoor beauty of nature.
