Superb replacement Hotel

Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

We arrived on the 5th May, having been moved from the Royalton as it was still being built!! From the minute we were met by Larry in reception, we were instantly made to feel welcome. He walked us around the resort, pointing out the restaurants and bars, before taking us to our ocean view suite. The room was beautiful and the view amazing, and after all the stress at “the other place”, it all became a little overwhelming for my wife and she burst into tears of happiness. Larry put a comforting arm around her, which I think sums up the level of service we received not just from Larry but from all the staff. The setting of the hotel is amazing, and the view from the indigo restaurant every morning is breath taking. The quality of the food too was very good. We especially enjoyed the East restaurant (we booked for every night it was available during our stay), and when we went to the Jetty for our anniversary Samantha went out of her way to make my wife a Roti, even though it wasn’t on the menu that evening. Only slight criticism would be the choice at the Ottimo, the “Italian food” options could be better, but that is only a minor thing. Regarding our anniversary, again the hotel left us speechless. Not only did we have chocolates waiting for us in the room when we came back from an excursion, but also a handwritten card from various members of staff. When we had finished our meal at the jetty, we were asked if we were ready for desert at which point, we were presented with an anniversary cake, and all the staff and customers singing to us. A card accompanying the cake was then pointed out to us, which included a picture taken of us, only an hour or so earlier, drinking prosecco on the jetty watching the sun set. This again was so personal to us and made us feel very special. Overall it was the staff that really made our stay special. Whether it was Jason at the bar asking the well being of my father in law (we had said he was in hospital on our first of many trips to the bar) and recommending trips, Benn giving us tips and information while keeping the drinks flowing, Odela, who appeared to be at every restaurant we went to, giving us exceptional service or all of the ladies and gents at breakfast who greeted us by name, and with a smile, whether we had met them previously or not. As we were told by a member of staff as we left, we now have family in Antigua, so we will be back.

A little bit of luxury

We chose this hotel for 4 days R&R after completing a week sailing out of English Harbour. Already being in Antigua we visited a couple of other hotels on the island and Carlisle Bay stood out for its location, welcoming staff and overall appearance. Our room was lovely; clean and well laid out. As half board guests, we enjoyed breakfast, a complimentary mini bar (not including alcohol) and afternoon tea. The beach was beautiful and on choosing our lounger we were provided with towels and chilled drinks by friendly staff. Fresh fruit was offered to us mid morning. We found the staff to be really friendly and everyone said hello and greeted us with a smile. Would we come back again... in a heartbeat. The perfect end to our stay in Antigua.
