Fell below our highly anticipated expectations

We chose Sandals to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary as everyone said how special it was so we opted for a Butler Service. The room had the wow factor on the recently refurbished Mediterranean side of the site, on the 6th floor and had spectacular views of the ocean. Very spacious and massive bathroom and walk in shower. We used 2 of the 3 butlers - Dionne and Sean - who were fabulous, friendly and nothing was too much trouble (do ask for them if you book butler service). We won't mention the third one as we rarely saw him and thought he was a figment of our imagination. The room was very clear, plenty of towels and litre bottles of spirits, well stocked mini bar to suit all tastes. There was certainly plenty to eat and drink and the only time you could potentially go hungry is between 7am (when room service finished) and 7.30am (when breakfast started). Dionne and Sean worked hard to make our stay enjoyable, reserving sunloungers, serving drinks around the pool and booking restaurants. A special shout out is to Niecer, the nicest entertainments person you could meet. Also, Latoya in the swim up "quiet pool" knew everyone's drinks. Mosquito control is great and I never got one bite during my stay. However, the main pool resembled Club 18-30 in Ibiza and the noise was phenomenal, increasing in noise as the day went on. We moved to the "quiet pool" but that varied depending on what large groups took over the sun loungers. The grounds are kept immaculate but at a cost to your peace and quiet - lawnmowers and jet washers droned constantly. A large proportion of the staff could do with customer re-training as they were surly and rude and I had to break my own rule of never complaining on holiday when one over-stepped the mark at breakfast in Marios. The restaurants were mainly excellent except for the Barefoot where you had to fight off the huge gulls that invaded your food whilst you were eating lunch and after when you had finished. It was like Hitchcock's "Birds". Whilst the beach is one of the nicest in the world you are plagued by vendors constantly. It was a lovely place but with customer service lacking it fell below what we would expect and have received in other 5* resorts. Sort out the staff attitude and it could be a fabulous place.

Awesome Trip but want to warn about going off the resort

So our stay was wonderful- absolutely nothing to complain about. What I do want to bring to travellers’ attention is this toxic plant at one of the Antiguan beaches we went to. Two days out of our stay we went to Ffreys Beach. On the beach there was this cool plant right next to my beach lounger. Because I love exotic plants, I touched many parts of it. Two days later I got a nasty blistery burning rash due to the fact that the whole plant is very toxic. It is commonly called Sodom Apple or Rubber plant. If ingested or you rub your eyes after contact it can be dangerously toxic. I am going to post a picture of the plant (not my rash though, as it is really gross and burns like mad). This would most likely explain why went I went back to the beach two days later, it was completely chopped down. Be very careful about touching seemingly harmless plants!
