Beautiful resort

Perrysburg, Ohio

We have been sandals select members for 13 years we have been to a lot of the resorts and i must say they are always improving the resorts but the customer service and relations are nothing like they used to be. We became and have stayed Select members because in the beginning we were treated and offered special rewards without asking, the management used to be available and would be around, and would always communicate with the guests but in the past few years on our trips less and less customer service hardly ever see a manager or even hear from them we are supposed to get in room check in and it is the same old story that no one is available but we will get a call and from management and that never came either. We are in the Diamond level now and before we got to that level it’s was top tier but now there is another tier higher so we are back to being unimportant apparently. It is very frustrating that we continue to be loyal to the resort we always try to encourage people to go to the resorts because of all the amenities that are available but at this point we are not sure this will continue to be our choice or even that we will recommend the resorts because we don’t see the benefits to us anymore. Also I have a business and have on occasions brought clients to the resorts and then i am told this does not count why I don’t know I spent a great deal of money to bring these people and I myself was part of it but I get no points only credit for the stay. It seems like a no win and that the point of Sandals values are not about the guests but more about the benefit of the resorts. It is very hard for me to say bad things because we have loved going to almost all of the resorts but at this point it is a little hard to be positive when we feel as though our time and money might be better spent,

Mixed feelings...

Yateley, United Kingdom

Sandals has for me, always been a dream brand, one I hoped one day to experience. We were Lucky enough to be able to visit, and so here I am, sitting on the beautiful beach on my last day, writing this. I will start with my general view. It is an amazing place. However, and here is the crux....there is a definite divide between the Caribbean side, and the all suite 6 star Mediterranean side. Things that shouldn't depend on the level of room you have paid for...it is unwritten but it's there..... Silly little things like our fridges never get the beers and wine replaced, we had to ask. Our room was serviced first....like 8am....a rude wake up call on holiday. We were there for my birthday and our 25 wedding ani. Was expecting at least a towel swan and some petals on the bed. Nada. Nothing. Then overheard a couple from the other side saying how lovely there room was decorated when the got back on her birthday. First world problems yes...but a bit annoying. Onto specifics.... The room - we stayed in the cottages, lovely little semi detached 'barns' within the grounds. Large comfortable bed, plenty of hanging and storage space and a decent bathroom. Bit odd having the sink in the bedroom..but hey ho. Very quiet except for the damn tree frogs lol. They start at dusk and make car alarm sounds all night until dawn. Take ear plugs. The beach - beautiful. Perfect. Except for the vendors, who despite being very friendly show annoying perseverance. The same ones everyday. Once they get to know you, some think you there new best friend and don't leave you alone, constantly asking for drinks. The exception to this was a lovely craftsman called David, who makes things from palm leafs. His work is amazing, and he is a true gent. The pools - didn't use, but looked nice enough. The large one is where the majority of guests from the all suite resort rest. So it's hard to see past the butlers preening their charges. The food - cannot fault it. We only had one 'meh' meal, which was at Marios the Italian. To be fair this was more about the style than the taste. Who gets a main course with no sides... we are not fans of pasta so went for the steak and chicken dish. For trade description purposes that's what we got. That is all we got. Oh, with some posh sounding lettuce. The bayside is our favourite. There lunch menu does an amazing fish sandwich. Beats fillet of fish from McD hands down. The weather- we are here during the iffy season. You take a risk of a few days of clouds and if unlucky a storm, but overall it's been ace. It is very different to what I have experienced before. You tan brilliantly when cloudy. The only cloud in the sky can be a rain cloud....which means you can sunbathe in the rain as the sun is still beating down on you. Weird but true! Excursions- the round the island trip was great. Not cheap but felt very safe and the food and hospitality was spot on. If you are a scuba diver, don't expect the same level of safety scrutiny as you get in Europe. Hubby had a very close call on the first day, which we will be taking up separately. That said since then, he has been out many times and seen sharks rays and turtle nearly dying was worth it. Entertainment - magician aside, of good quality. Most people are ready for slumber by 11 but the 'british' pub stays open until 2am if that's your thing. So overall, would I come back.....yes but not to this one. Would I pay extra to get a slave, sorry butler....no. Would I come back to Antigua....maybe, but a less pretentious resort.
