As you follow in the Footsteps of Yukon Pioneers, you’ll get to spend 10 days in Canada’s magical Yukon Territory, soaking up its abundant nature and the unique way of life that lives on here. Modern and ancient cultures seem to go hand in hand, with contemporary cities boasting carefully-preserved historical buildings, as well as cultural centres and museums that shine a light on the Yukon’s history. Take it all in because it won’t be long before you’re leaving the city and towns behind and escaping into the vast wilderness, where hiking trails wait to lead you through the stunning Kluane National Park, and the mesmerising waters of Lake Kluane await your discovery.
As with everything in life, the journey is just as important as the stops along the way. Get ready for days spent marvelling from your car window as you cruise along breath-taking highways, making stops to gaze open-mouthed at the natural wonders that abound here. From lakes, rivers and mountain peaks to big mammals like caribou and grizzly bears, you’ll find yourself blessed with stunning views at every turn.

Arrive in Whitehorse
Arrive in the city of Yukon, the capital of the Yukon Territory, and enjoy your first night in Canada
Whitehorse to Watson Lake
Your first day on the road will take you through the heart of the Yukon Territory, passing by small towns and villages until you reach Watson Lake. Here, you could spend some time exploring the ‘signpost forest’, full of over 10,000 signs from all around the world, or visit the Second World War historical display, before settling in for a good night’s sleep.
Watson Lake to Faro
Today, you’ll drive along rivers and lakes to Faro, a small town set against the backdrop of mountains. Spend some time learning about the beautiful area that surrounds you at the Campbell Region Interpretative Centre, or visit the former lead-zinc mine.
Faro to Dawson City
Head north today, driving through the Yukon wilderness and looking out for its incredible wildlife along the way, be it moose, caribou or grizzly bears. Find yourself in Dawson City and sample some delicious and diverse food in its local eateries, before spending the night here.
Take a break from driving today and spend some time exploring Dawson City. Step into the Gold Rush era, with period actors bringing to life local walking tours and historic buildings. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the Bonanza Creek and Dredge 4 National Historic Site, and the chance to experience an interactive gold-panning station.
Dawson City to Beaver Creek
Cross the Yukon River by ferry then follow the stunning Top of the World Highway and Taylor Highway through Yukon and into Alaska, USA. Take a break in the unique town of Chicken part way through your journey, then carry on driving back into Canada, eventually reaching the town of Beaver Creek, your stop for the night.
Beaver Creek to Haines Junction
Today, you’ll take to the Alaska Highway, with time to discover the many natural wonders you pass, such as Lake Kluane and Kluane National Park. This evening, arrive in Haines Junction and spend some time exploring the village before getting some sleep.
Haines Junction to Whitehorse
Take the short drive to Whitehorse today before spending the rest of the day exploring this frontier town.
Spend your last full day in this wonderful part of Canada exploring Whitehorse further, or perhaps taking a day trip to the remote town of Skagway.
Depart from Whitehorse
Today, you’ll bid farewell to an unforgettable experience in Yukon and head home.
