Explore the most remote parts of the Luangwa Valley and track the Big Five as part of a thrilling walking safari along the Chikoko Walking Trails in Zambia. Known as the birthplace of the walking safari, you’ll feel truly at one with nature here, the feeling of seclusion enhanced by the absence of electricity and lack of phone signal.

Your adventure begins from one of two intimate bush camps: the romantic raised chalets of Chikoko Tree Camp, overlooking the acacia grove, or the more traditional Crocodile River Camp, situated under beautiful muchenja (ebony) trees. We highly recommend a stay in both camps to ensure you experience the best of what they each have to offer.

From your camp you’ll follow in the footsteps of world-renowned British explorer David Livingstone, as you accompany an experienced ranger on a fully immersive morning walk through the African bush. During your search for elephants, hippos, lions and giraffe, your guide will give you a fascinating insight into African bush life.

Once you return to camp, you’ll have the opportunity to relax and take in the stunning panoramic views of the Zambian plains from the comfort of your chalet, before embarking on an afternoon walk to further soak up the beautiful sights, smells and sounds of this untouched, untamed African wilderness.

As dusk falls, you’ll make your way back to camp to enjoy delicious meals by the campfire, listening out for the distant roars of lions, the constant murmuring of the fiery-necked nightjars, and the guttural grunts of hippos.
