As one of our most popular Tanzania safari tours, the Bush Rover Experience package is a fantastic option if you are looking to explore world-class game reserves, conservation areas and intimate trails off-the-beaten track.
There are few places on earth that come close to competing with Tanzania in terms of diverse wildlife and outstanding natural landmarks. From the snow topped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro to the luscious plains of the Serengeti, you’ll be amazed at the sheer range of fascinating experiences as you travel between UNESCO World Heritage sites and exclusive safari camps.
Tanzania also has the largest concentration and diversity of animals in Africa, so you can expect to see plenty of ‘Big Five’ game – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. If you are lucky, you may also have the chance to witness the great wildebeest migration, a truly spectacular event like no other.
At Hayes & Jarvis, our expert travel advisers have spent decades organising tours across Tanzania. That means we know the best routes across the country, the best places to stay and, ultimately, how to get the absolute maximum out of your trip.
Daily private departures.
Shared group departures with other Hayes & Jarvis customers from Kilimanjaro on 17th June, 26th August, 17th September and 02nd October 2020.
- Spot lion, leopard, elephant and rhino as you explore the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area
- If you’re lucky you might get the chance to witness the scale of the annual wildebeest migration across the plains of the Serengeti
- Enjoy a unique canoeing experience around the water channels of Lake Victoria
- Learn about the fascinating Maasai culture and its traditional customs
Start your Journey
As with most of our Tanzania tours, you’ll arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Northern Tanzania where you’ll be greeted by one of our expert tour guides. From there, you will be driven to the charming Endoro Lodge, which is situated among the dense forest surrounding the Ngorongoro Crater rim. Here you’ll have a chance to drop off your things, freshen up and receive a full briefing from your guide before starting your adventure the next morning.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Enjoy a beautiful morning drive from Karatu into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll have the chance to stop at the very edge of this famous crater to see this magnificent landscape in all its glory. As you pass through the valley, you’ll be sure to witness plenty of traditional Maasai settlements and grazing zebra on your way to Serengeti National Park.
You’ll spend the afternoon exploring the park before arriving at your private Bush Rover migration camp, an intimate setting that makes for the perfect adventurer’s accommodation. Despite being situated in the heart of the Serengeti, not far from a main wildebeest crossing point, this semi-permanent camp has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay, including large bedroom suites, balconies and a shower.
Serengeti National Park
Your third day in Tanzania is dedicated to exploring Serengeti National Park and depending on the year, a chance to witness the Great Migration of roaming wildebeest, zebra and gazelle – this is a must-see experience for any Tanzania safari tour. The spectacular landscapes and resilient population of diverse wildlife make it easy to see why the Serengeti ranks so highly as one of the best safari locations anywhere on the planet.
The park is also renowned for its local community initiatives, creating incentives for the surrounding population to engage in the upkeep and maintenance of the reserve. After a safari game drive that’s bound to stay long in your memory, it’s back to the camp for a delicious evening meal, as well as drinks around the campfire.
Serengeti National Park
Depart from your Serengeti camp today, exploring the beautiful western corridor of the park. Located on the south east corner of Lake Victoria, this area is one of the best locations in Tanzania for both canoeing and spotting bird life.
Here you’ll have the chance to travel down narrow water channels with an experienced local guide before refuelling with another wonderful evening meal.
The shores of Lake Victoria are home to dozens of quaint fishing villages and indigenous tribes, such as the Sukuma community. Gaze in wonder as you watch local fishermen bringing in their catch for the day and women preparing and selling fresh fish at the local market. An expert tip is to take a pair of binoculars as there is certainly no shortage of magnificent birdlife roaming along the edges of the lake.
Head back to the camp for lunch before once again exploring the many water channels by canoe, where you can spot diverse wildlife and unique bird species in their natural habitat along the way.
Saadani National Park
After breakfast in Little Okavango, set off on a morning drive across to Mwanza Airport for a quick one-hour flight to Dar es Salaam, where your next car and local guide will be waiting for you.
From there, you’ll head over to Saadani National Park, the only coastal wildlife park on the east coast of Africa. With its unique blend of pristine beaches and thick bushland, Saadani offers a completely different scene compared to the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. There are few other places in Africa where you’ll be able to witness a range of diverse wildlife basking along the shores of the Indian Ocean.
Saadani National Park
Take time to soak up the sun along the white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters of Saadani, where there’s a high chance you won’t see another footprint in the sand for miles. You can also join a complimentary tour at the local wildlife conservation centre, or there’s always the extra option to book yourself onto a local boat safari or walking safari around the local area.
Saadani National Park
You’ll have another day to relax in Saadani at your own leisure, again strolling along the shores of the Indian Ocean, or enjoying the range of interesting activities on offer. If nothing else, you’ll have another chance to relax under tropical palm trees as you relish a cooling ocean breeze.
Dar Es Salaam
For the final day of your Tanzania tour, drive back to Dar es Salaam for your onward journey. After nine days of adventure and plenty of travelling, many guests take the chance to visit the nearby archipelago of Zanzibar for a spot of rest and relaxation. If you like the sound of basking on the shores of the Indian Ocean for a few more days, speak to our Destination Specialists, who can help arrange this for you.
