- Meet the dolphins at Monkey Mia and head out on a cruise to outer Ningaloo Reef in search of humpback whales
- Travel through the Great Sandy Desert, before enjoying a guided tour of the historic pearling town of Broome
- Pass through the striking ancient Outback of Pilbara en route to the remote mining town of Tom Price, nestled deep in the Hamersley Range
- Enjoy the rugged scenery of Australia’s Kimberley region as you travel through the heart of the Outback to El Questro Wilderness Park
Start your Journey
Perth and Welcome Dinner
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be picked up and taken to your hotel. Following check-in, spend the rest of your day touring Perth’s shopping districts. Take in views from Kings Park, perched up on Mount Eliza, which overlooks the city. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your APT Tour Director and driver, and meet your fellow travellers.
Nambung National Park - Pinnacles - Kalbarri
Moving on, you’ll explore Nambung National Park and the famous, ancient Pinnacles Rock Formations, which rise up to six metres above the shifting sands. Your night will be spent in Kalbarri, a beautiful little town where the ancient, rugged Outback meets sandy-white beaches.
Kalbarri - Shark Bay - Monkey Mia
In the morning, you’ll be driven towards the UNESCO World Heritage site of Shark Bay, famous for its sparkling blue waters, pure sands and abundance of marine wildlife. You’ll be staying at Monkey Mia, a beachfront resort situated close to the Shark Bay UNESCO World Heritage site. Shark Bay is home to one of the world’s best-known dolphin encounters. Spend your day at leisure and enjoy watching the sunset across the water before dinner.
Monkey Mia - Carnarvon
Today, you’ll take a walk along the beach of Monkey Mia and have the opportunity to observe the wild dolphins that come to shore, subject to appearance of course. You will also get to spend time visiting Shell Beach, one of only two beaches in the world that is made from billions of tiny non-fossilised shells. Moving on to Hamelin Pool, you’ll be able to view the world’s oldest living organisms, stromatolites.
Ningaloo Reef Marine Park
Your adventure today takes you to Coral Bay, the gateway to the Ningaloo Reef Marine Park. Cruise the beautiful reefs and view the forests of soft coral and tropical fish. Later,journey to Vlamingh Head for stunning views of Western Australia’s coastline, before continuing to Exmouth for the evening.
Exmouth - The Pilbara
Travel inland today through some of Australia’s most ancient Outback landscapes. The Pilbara is home to deep rocky canyons and remote and isolated oases. The red terrain contrasts with the azure blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Later, visit the traditional iron ore mine of Mount Tom Price mine, and enjoy a guided tour.
Karijini National Park
Discover Karijini National Park, where gorges, waterfalls and rock pools provide a refreshing change of scenery from the red Pilbara terrain. Stop at Dale’s Gorge, Fortescue Falls and Oxers Lookout for some truly incredible views. In the afternoon, travel to Karratha, where you will spend the night.
Karratha and Port Hedland
After a tour of Karratha this morning, journey across the red earth of the Pilbara, with its impressive horizons and rocky landscapes. Visit Roebourne and Cossack before arriving in Port Hedland, home to Australia’s largest tonnage port, exporting iron ore to all corners of the globe.
Great Sandy Desert - Broome
Travel through the vast Great Sandy Desert to the historic pearl mining town of Broome. Enjoy a tour and arrive at your resort in time to see the famous sunsets of Broome.
Today is at your leisure in Broome. Perhaps you might like to visit the Pearl Luggers Museum, where you can gain an insight into the town’s pearling history. Alternatively, why not spend time relaxing on the famous white sands, or take a camel ride along Cable Beach? Kindly note these activities are at your own expense.
Broome and Fitzroy Crossing
Leaving the coast behind, skirt the southern edge of the Kimberley National Park and reach the remote town of Fitzroy Crossing, which is situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River, one of the region’s most iconic waterways.
Geikie Gorge Cruise - Halls Creek
Board a unique cruise along stunning Geikie Gorge and witness where annual flooding has bleached the limestone walls. Learn more about the area’s surrounding flora and fauna before rejoining the Great Northern Highway for our journey to Halls Creek.
Argyle Diamond Mine and El Questro
Tour the Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine, the world’s largest producer of diamonds and producer of the rare and very expensive pink diamond. Our journey continues through the heart of the Kimberley to El Questro Wilderness Park, a working cattle station.
Livistona Palms. Afterwards, take a locally-guided cruise along stunning Chamberlain Gorge. Later, you might like to hike into Emma Gorge and swim under the droplet waterfall, before it’s time to enjoy a delicious home-cooked dinner.
Lake Argyle and the Ord River Wildlife Cruise
Travelling along the last section of the Gibb River Road, journey to Lake Argyle. Created by the construction of the Ord River Dam, Lake Argyle is several times larger than Sydney Harbour, and forms part of the huge Ord River Scheme. Join a wildlife cruise along the river, keeping an eye out for crocodiles and many species of native birdlife.
Kununurra and Katherine
Depart Kununurra this morning, crossing the border into the Northern Territory, and passing through the remote township of Timber Creek, before arriving in Katherine.
Katherine Gorge Cruise, Darwin and Farewell Dinner
Enjoy a Nabil Dreaming cruise along Katherine Gorge this morning before visiting Adelaide River and the Adelaide River War Cemetery of the Second World War. Continue to Darwin where this evening you’ll enjoy a Farewell Dinner.
This morning after breakfast, enjoy a city tour before transferring to the airport for your onward flight. You may decide to continue your Australia adventure - ask your Destination Specialist about extending onto the Red Centre or Tropical North Queensland.
