Start your Journey
Upon arrival in Beijing, transfer to your hotel for three nights
After breakfast enjoy a full day of sightseeing including a walk through Tiananmen Square, one of the largest squares in the world where you can see the Great Hall of the people and other historical monuments. You will also visit The Forbidden City, located directly behind the Tiananmen tower gate, where the Ming and Qing Dynasty Emperors and Empresses lived and ruled from 1420 to 1924. After lunch at a local restaurant visit the Summer Palace.
After breakfast, enjoy a full day of sightseeing including the Great Wall at Badaling. You will be able to walk and climb or travel by cable car (price not included). Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel.
Beijing to Xi'an
After breakfast visit the Temple of Heaven where the Emperors worshipped and prayed during the Ming and Qing Dynasties for a good harvest. After lunch at a local restaurant transfer to the train station for the high-speed train to Xi'an (approximately five and a half hours). Upon arrival in Xi'an transfer to your hotel for two nights.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, and then see the Terracotta Warriors and their chariots, and the Emporer Qinshihuang Mausoleum. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Banpo Neolithic Village, in Xian. On the way back to your hotel, stop off at the Terra-Cotta Replication factory.
Xi'an to Danxia
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Zhangye and upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Danxia (approx. one hour). Later visit the colourful Danxia Mountains which are located about 60km west of Zhangye. Nicknamed the 'painted mountains', these formations are unique and a joy for nature lovers and photographers.
Danxia to Zhangye
After an early breakfast visit Zhangye Danxia Landforn Park for sunrise (weather permitting). Later, visit the Big Buddha Temple and White Pagoda. The Big Budda Temple is located in the heart of Zhangye and this is where the fearsome Mongol Emperor Kublai Khan is said to have been born. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Zhangye to Shanghai
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
After breakfast visit Mandarin Yu Garden, an extensive Chinese garden and the bazaar. After lunch at a local restaurant visit Jade Buddha Temple and The Bund before returning to your hotel.
After breakfast transfer to Shanghai for your onwards flight

- Internal flights and train journeys as detailed.
- Air conditioned transportation.
- Meals included as detailed: Breakfast (B), Lunch (L), Dinner (D) and No Meals (RO). Breakfast is usually a Western-style buffet in your hotel. Most other meals are taken in local restaurants.
