Start your Journey
Drive Pokhara - Nayapul and trek to Birethanti
Your journey begins in Pokhara, a small city on Phewa Lake in central Nepal. It is known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit - the must-trek hiking trail in the Himalayas.
After breakfast, a transfer will take you to Nayapul, which is a one-hour drive from Pokhara. Today’s trek will be assisted by mountain guides and porters with the final destination being the Ker & Downey’s Sanctuary Lodge in Birethanti. The walk begins at Nayapul, and follows a ridgeline in the lower foothills of the Annapurna range.
The crisp mountain air coupled with the views across the Pokhara Valley is an invigorating start. As you admire the rugged mountainscape, the route finally drops down to the Modi River Valley, where Ker & Downey’s Sanctuary Lodge is located. Handcrafted by local artisans, Ker & Downey’s Sanctuary Lodge has stunning views of the majestic Machhapuchhre Mountain. This particular mountain is considered sacred in the Hindu religion. It’s the shape of its summit (seen from a particular angle), which has led it to be more commonly known as Fishtail Mountain. Its summit remains unclimbed.
A welcome lunch will be served at the lodge and come the afternoon, you can enjoy an optional walk to visit the village of Birethanti. You will walk across a swinging rope bridge just before reaching this tiny mountain village where you can discover its many tea houses and shops selling souvenirs. Look out for the mule trains being driven up the valley, taking goods to the less well-connected villages. Alternatively, you can enjoy discovering Sanctuary Lodge’s surrounding river valley.
After your first day discovering the rugged and breathtaking scenery of the Annapurna Circuit, you will enjoy an overnight stay and dinner at the Sanctuary Lodge.
Birethanti - Ghandruk
Today, you will be hiking to our next stop - the Himalayan Lodge in Ghandruk. After breakfast, you will leave the Sanctuary Lodge behind and hit the trail to Ghandruk. To keep your energy high, snacks will be available during the hike. Passing through the outlying farms scattered across the Modi River Valley, the hike will soon see you ascend up towards the mountains. With Machhapuchhre Mountain on the horizon, you will weave through small hamlets, terraced rice paddies, forests and pastures, before arriving at the Himalayan Lodge in the early afternoon. The Himalayan Lodge’s mountaintop position gives you up-close views of the gigantic peaks of Annapurna South (7,219m) and its neighbour Hiunchuli (6,441m).
Upon arrival, a tasty hot lunch will be served at the lodge. After the morning’s five to six hour walk, the afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your own leisure. Dinner will also be served with an overnight stay at the Himalayan Lodge.

After learning about the honey hunters’ who climb these rock faces with nothing more than ropes to reach the honey, the hike will continue on its way to Landruk.
Crossing the suspension bridge to reach the opposite banks of the Modi River, the trail will then ascend up into the village of Landruk. Within the Annapurna Conservation Area, Landruk is a small village of no more than 1,000 inhabitants. The views at Landruk over the terraced farms and the surrounding snow-capped peaks are a visual highlight of this tour.
A tasty lunch will be served upon arrival in Landruk at La Bee Lodge. In the afternoon, your guide will take you on an exploration hike to discover this quaint mountain village.
Landruk - Majgaon
