DARWIN – MARY RIVER
Begin your Australian adventure in the tropical and humid city of Darwin in the Northern Territory. You’ll greet your local Journey Director before hopping onto your bespoke 4WD drive, ready to explore.
We’ll head to the wetland wonderland of Litchfield National Park. Here you’ll discover how the local Aboriginal people’s ancestral spirits have sculpted the landscapes of the lush national park. Then, it’s time for a cross country ride along the wild and rugged Marrakai Track to reach the Mary River Wetlands.
In the evening, mingle with your fellow travellers at the Welcome Reception, enjoying drinks and canapés followed by dinner.
MARY RIVER – KAKADU
From the eerie waters of Mary River, we’ll head to Corroboree Billabong, where we’ll embark on a wildlife cruise. With the help of a local and knowledgeable guide, you’ll travel along the floodplains seeking fauna that hide below the lotus covered waters.
Then, it’s time to venture into the depths of the tropical Kakadu National Park, stopping at the Bowali Visitor Centre first. Stretch your legs before hiking to the unique rock art galleries of Ubirr. We’ll reach Nadab Lookout just in time to admire the sun melting into the famous Kakadu floodplains.
KAKADU – KATHERINE
The morning is yours to spend at your leisure. Take the time to relax, or alternatively, soar across the skies on an optional scenic flight for panoramic views of the verdant Kakadu National Park below. Then, you’ll reach Nourlangie to observe the fascinating ancient Dreamtime art of the Binij and Mungguy people. The rock art dates back 20,000 years.
Later, steer onto a gravel track for a cross country adventure to the frothy and cascading Gunlom Falls. A trek to the top of the falls will treat you to a dip in the tranquil and natural infinity pool. The water is so clear you can see straight through it.
Tuck into lunch shaded by the towering gum trees. Then, travel onto Nitmiluk National Park where you’ll retreat for the evening in a five star eco lodge.
This morning, you’ll meet Manuel Pamkal to learn about his passion for the native and traditional culture of playing the didgeridoo. Sit back and enjoy the hypnotic rhythms of the instrument as you allow yourself to connect with the surrounding landscapes.
Discover all about life in the wild bush and try your hand at the fine art of rarrk painting. You’ll paint using a reed brush, crafting your own work of art to take home to serve as a special memento of your time in the bush.
In the evening, embark onto a dinner cruise and discover the rich history and culture of the native Jawoyn people.
KATHERINE – DARWIN
Spend the morning at your leisure, either unwinding at the lodge or taking a short hike in the local area.
