Towering high in the foots of the Himalayas, Shimla, also known as the "Queen of Hills" used to be the summer capital during British rule as it sits 2200 metres above sea level and provided much cooler temperatures.
Over the years, Shimla has developed into a thriving mountain town and has developed facilities, easy accessibility and numerous attractions including Viceroy's House and vibrantly coloured rhododendron forests. Shimla's valleys provide the most stunning vistas, its colonial history is still alive today waiting to be learnt and all under the backdrop of the snow-capped Himalayas.
On this three night extension tour you will leave Delhi by train to then board the Toy Train from Kalka to Shimla and embark onto your journey into the hills. Visit a range of boutiques, stately mansions, towering temples and beautifully manicured gardens before heading back to Delhi and onto your next Indian discovery.
