Resting on the southern banks of the Zambezi River at the western end of the eponymous falls, your tour begins at Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls presents a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Described by the locals as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’, columns of spray can be seen from miles away. This location offers an abundance of activities from relaxing nature trails, exhilarating hikes or white water rafting and bungee jumps for the adrenaline junkies.

Moving on to Chobe River, which forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, this breathtaking land is renowned for its dense concentration of wildlife, including elephant and hippo populations. The waters attract all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and lions that prey on them.

Your search for animals continues in the Okavango Delta. This UNESCO World Heritage site is indisputably one of the most stunning and world-renowned places in Africa, known for its sprawling grassy plains and lush animal habitat. Your Grand Tour of Botswana will then take you to Moremi Game Reserve and Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, which is home to a cornucopia of flamingos, as well as one of Africa's biggest zebra populations.

Day 1

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

You will be met at Victoria Falls Airport and driven to your hotel in Victoria Falls, which will take approximately 20 minutes. You’ll spend three nights at Victoria Falls Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.

The Victoria Falls Hotel, popularly known as ‘the grand old lady of the falls’ is situated in Victoria Falls National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Set in lush tropical gardens with lily ponds, palm trees and semi-tropical shrubs, your hotel will provide tranquility and seclusion.

Using the hotel’s private pathway, the famous Victoria Falls are just a ten minute walk away. “The Smoke that Thunders’ or Mosi-O-Tunya as it is known in the local dialect, is clearly audible and visible from the hotel.

In the late afternoon, enjoy a three hour Zambezi Royal sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River. From the boat, you will have the chance to observe elephant, giraffe and even rhino who frequently come down to the river for an evening drink. A local guide will share their knowledge of the wildlife and the natural history of the area as you make your way across the water, returning back to the hotel before dark.

Day 2 & 3

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Following breakfast, you’ll depart on a morning tour of Victoria Falls. This natural phenomenon is one of the seven natural Wonders of the World. Observe this immense curtain of water cascading over 100m. After the tour, you are free to spend the rest of your day at leisure either using the hotel facilities, or exploring the beautiful landscape around you.

Day 4 & 5

Chobe River Front

After breakfast, you will be met and taken on a one and a half hour drive to Chobe Chilwero. You’ll spend two nights at Chobe Chilwero, staying in your own private cottage with an en suite bathroom on a full board basis.

Chobe Chilwero is situated in the Kasane Forest Reserve bordering the legendary Chobe National Park. Chilwero means ‘place of high view’ and this lovely lodge lives up to its name with splendid views across Chobe River, which is famed for its sunsets and huge concentrations of elephant that come down to the water’s edge to quench their thirst.

The lodge boasts a swimming pool, library, wine cellar, gift shop and spa. Your game activities are scheduled according to your wishes and on recommendation by the local guides. Professional guides will lead your game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle and by motorboat when you’re out on a water safari.

In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to embark on a boat cruise that heads directly towards the sunset as elephant, hippo, buffalo and a profusion of birdlife grace the riverbanks.

Day 6, 7 & 8

Okavango Delta

In the morning, you will be met and taken on a one hour and 20 minute flight by light aircraft from Kasane to Stanley's Airstrip. You will spend three-nights at Stanley's Camp in a standard tent with en suite facilities on a full board basis. You also have the option of going on an elephant excursion (where a surcharge applies).

Situated in the northwestern corner of Botswana, the Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage site as it is the largest inland delta in the world. The magnificent Okavango River sprawls out over the dry sands of the Kalahari Desert forming this flourishing waterlogged oasis featuring countless meandering waterways and crystal clear lagoons and fertile floodplains abundant with wildlife.

Enjoy a number of activities such as game viewing, fishing, bird watching or taking an authentic guided excursion in a mokoro (a traditional dugout canoe) through this wetland paradise.

Day 9 & 10

Moremi Game Reserve

Following breakfast you’ll be met and taken on a short 15-minute fight by light aircraft from Stanley’s to Chief's Camp. You will spend two nights at Chief's Camp in a luxury tented suite with en suite facilities on a full board basis.

Situated in the east of the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve ranks as one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. You can explore more than 4,871 square kilometres of pristine wilderness, and experience a variety of terrain including savannah, winding waterways, and dense forest.

This diverse ecosystem supports an incredibly wide spectrum of wildlife, ranging from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra, to the rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope, lion, cheetah. If you’re lucky, you might spot packs of wild dog in the open grasslands. The birdlife is prolific here and you have a chance to spot many of the 550 bird species recorded on Botswana’s national bird list.

Day 11, 12 & 13

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

After breakfast, you will take a one hour flight on a chartered light aircraft to Camp Kalahari. Rest your head for three nights at Camp Kalahari in a tented suite on a full board basis.

Set in the heart of the dry savannah of northeastern Botswana, the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans is the world’s largest network of salt pans stretching over 3,900 square kilometres and formed on the bed of the ancient Makgadikgadi Lake that began evaporating aeons ago.

Camp Kalahari is a relaxed, traditional safari camp, ideal if you are seeking fun and adventure but not wishing to sacrifice comfort or style. The camp is an eclectic mix of original African furniture and textiles paired with traditional safari-style furniture and colonial antiques.

During your stay you’ll get up-close and personal with a group of meerkats. Spend time bushwalking with San people, the local indigenous community, who will give you a glimpse into their ancient culture. You can opt for morning and afternoon game drives if you wish to experience unique desert wildlife.

If you wish, you can also join an optional tour of Chapman’s Baobab at the campsite of Livingstone & Selous, which is one of the three largest and oldest trees in the whole of Africa.

The following activities are available on a chargeable basis. In the dry season you can go quad biking across the lunar expanse of the pans, or go stargazing on the pans after sunset for your own natural planetarium show with horizon-to-horizon stars. During the wet season, you have the opportunity to experience the spectacular migration of zebra and wildebeest – which is the second biggest on the continent and the last remaining in southern Africa.

Day 14

End of itinerary

After breakfast, take the 45 minute long charter light aircraft flight from Camp Kalahari to Maun Airport. From here your Grand Tour of Botswana ends and you are welcome to continue with your own arrangements.
