Fancy a break but don’t have that much time? Why not take a long weekend break? Weekend breaks can be like a shot of espresso that gets you through your work week. They add spice to life that makes the rest of the week more bearable. We have some great ideas for tropical holidays and city breaks that will make that weekend break absolutely perfect.

American Cities

The USA is filled with wide open spaces, iconic cities, bustling metropolises, pristine beaches, and panoramic skylines. Fortunately, the East Coast is just within weekend break reach of us in the UK. See the iconic sights, head out for fabulous shopping, or watch incredible theatre in New York; hit the Freedom Trail in historic Boston; or dive Florida’s breathtaking coastal island Key West. If you want to head a bit further inland, try some gambling in the ultimate Sin City, Las Vegas, or get treated to sublime cuisine and sensational scenery in uber-cool San Francisco.

Tropical Treasures

If relaxing on a white sand beach with cerulean skies above you, turquoise blue seas before you, and waving palm trees behind you sounds like bliss, head for The Caribbean on your long weekend break. The weather on an Aruba holiday is invariably warm, sunny, and dry, and with powdery shores and tropical breezes, you are sure to find a beach chair with your name on it. In the Bahamas, enjoy 320 days of sun every year with more beachfront than any other Caribbean nation. These 700 islands are cast like jewels across the ocean with endless possibility for your tropical weekend break.

Persian Gulf

From fantastic shopping to beautiful beaches to archaeological sites and breathtaking desert dunes, the Persian Gulf is an often forgotten weekend break destination. Easily reached, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is famous for its ancient mosques, Arabian markets, and vast shopping malls. But if you want more distinctive landscapes and stunning geological wonders, head for Oman’s Grand Canyon or explore the souks of Muscat. Sun and sand will greet you just about everywhere in Abu Dhabi, where the glittering skyline rides smoothly along the shimmering Gulf.

Egyptian Dreaming

With thousands of years of history, this ancient nation put human civilisation into context. In Egypt, see the intimidating Sphinx, the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the 19th century Muhammad Ali Mosque in the 12th century Citadel, or a multitude of mummies and museums in Cairo. Walk through 5,000 years of human history in Luxor at the Valley of the Kings or explore the Sinai Mountains, where you will find stunning views of rocks blending golds, yellows, and reds. Or explore the underwater world of Sharm el Sheikh on a diving weekend break, discovering the azure of the Red Sea peppered with coral reefs, shipwrecks, and a variety of marine life.

Cities of the Orient

Feeling adventurous? Take in these cities of the Orient, where old world charm sits effortlessly next to ultra modern. Far East weekend breaks offer westerners unique cultures, diverse lands, a rich history, and delicious cuisines. And while you may have to make it a long weekend, it will be well worth it. The sweeping vistas of Hong Kong’s iconic skylines are spine tingling in China; head to thriving, modern Singapore for traditional culture, fabulous cuisine, and inspirational architecture; or explore Malaysia’s most modern city, Kuala Lumpur, where historical character is blended with a glittering skyline and luxury hotels.
