Amazing hotels in the world

Clive Wedderburn October 10, 2016

You’re definitely not the only one who dreams of visiting stunning destinations worldwide. Here at Hayes and Jarvis we have our own fantasy wish-lists too. I asked our experts for their dream destinations and added a few of my own for good measure. Here are the hotels we’d most like to visit around the world. Rest assured, these are just the tip of the iceberg.

1. St Lucia

Ladera St Lucia

Why: “I’d love to stay at the Ladera St Lucia, an intimate hideaway resort with stunning views of the mesmerising Pitons from your hotel suite. Imagine waking up to those views...simply amazing.” Belle, Direct Marketing Executive

Where next: Island-hop to Antigua for golden beaches, zip-line and rainforest adventures, historic tours and parties with the locals.

2. Thailand

The Santhiya Koh Yao Noi Beach Resort, Koh Yao Noi

Why: We’re struck by the stunning attention to detail evident in the elegant teakwood rooms that are crafted to perfection to frame that view. For those of us who like to spend their holiday simply gazing at far horizons, this may be the perfect spot.

Where next: Compare and contrast when you island-hop to vibrant Koh Phangan and stay at the Santhiya Koh Phangan and Spa.

3. Canada

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Alberta

Why: Western Canada possesses some of the most dramatic scenery in the world, featuring astounding mountain and lakeside views. Situated in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge places you right in the heart of the spectacular Canadian wilderness.

Where next: Fly-drive down south to California for amazing cities including San Francisco and Los Angeles,  enjoying the scenic beauty of Redwood National Park, Big Sur and Pismo Beach along the way.

4. Maldives

OZEN by Atmosphere at Maadhoo

Why: “I’m always dreaming of visiting the underwater restaurant at OZEN by Atmosphere in the Maldives, a stunning new luxury beach resort. My idea of heaven is sitting back and relax with a glass of fizz and dining with the fishes.” Taylor, Destination Executive

Where next: To the green landscapes of Sri Lanka for wildlife safaris, glorious beaches, stunning cuisine and fascinating culture.

5. New York

Baccarat New York

Why: Soaring 50 storeys above Midtown Manhattan is the Baccarat, one of New York’s newest and finest hotels situated a few blocks from the Rockefeller Center. It’s the perfect retreat in the Big Apple – sumptuous, sophisticated and stylish.

Where next: Out of the city and onto the beach for rum, fun and flying fish in Barbados.

6. Kenya

Elsa’s Kopje, Meru National Park

Why: This is where Elsa the lion from Born Free liked to stretch out and relax; and we’d like to relax there too. It’s the epitome of a room with a view. Fly by light aircraft into Meru National Park for game drives and dining under the stars.

Where next: Zanzibar, the exotic Spice Island, for unbelievable diving experiences, relaxing on a dhow cruise and enjoying the secluded luxury of your beach resort.

7. Dubai

Anantara Dubai The Palm

Why: “My idea of perfection is the Over Water Villa at the Anantara Dubai The Palm. I love the idea of a Thai-inspired setting and yet you’re only a short flight time to Dubai. The best of both worlds I’d say”.  Sarah, Destination Executive

Where next: Combine Dubai with the spiritual haven of Bali, experiencing green paddy fields, temples and pagodas, cultural Ubud plus the beaches and bars of Sanur and Seminyak.

8. South Africa

Lion Sands Kingston Treehouse, Kruger National Park

Why: The Kingston Treehouse experience elevates you above the undergrowth on your own luxury parapet, surrounded by the sights and sounds of Kruger National Park. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting for nature-lovers seeking a truly unique experience.

Where next: Denis Private Islands; having been set adrift in the African wilderness, be prepared to be castaway on your own private nature island in the Seychelles.

9. Thailand

River Kwai Float House, Khao Sok

Why: “I really like the peacefulness of the River Kwai Float House. The villas are actually positioned on the river – a tranquil and luxurious experience.” Nick, Senior Destination Manager

Where next: The Elephant Hills Jungle Luxury Safari Camp in Khao Sok National Park, for wildlife, rainforest covered mountains and limestone cliffs.

10. Bali

Pita Maha Resort and Spa, Ubud

Why: To experience the culture and spirituality that springs from the centre of the island. The Pita Maha Resort and Spa takes full advantage of its rainforest setting, secreted away among the paddy fields, rivers and wooded slopes of Ubud.

Where next: The Gili Isles for an intimate slice of white sand paradise to complement your rainforest stay in Bali.

11. Singapore

Marina Bay Sands

Why: If you can find a swimming pool with a better view, please let us know in the comments box below. The infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands hotel overlooks the Formula 1 track, the marina and the tropical Singapore skyline.

Where next: Spoil yourself in Langkawi in nearby Malaysia for breathtaking views, stunning landscapes and beautiful beachfront resorts.

12. Dubai

Banyan Tree Al Wadi, Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai

Why: “I’d write my very own Arabian Fairy tale, staying in this luxury Bedouin style tented villa in the desert. By day I would relax by my private pool, by night I would dine on top of the watch tower under the stars and pretend I’m a Persian queen waiting for my prince charming!.” Sheryl, Destination Manager

Where next: Mauritius for Creole cuisine, culture, plus stunning scenery and Indian Ocean bliss.
