World Care Fund

Come on holiday with us any time from May 2009 and
together we’ll do our bit for the planet.

World Care Fund Logo The rules are simple - give a pound to the World Care Fund and we’ll match it. Your money goes towards projects that help make up for the impact holidaymakers have on the environment, and look after communities around the world.

Travel Foundation

The Travel Foundation Logo These are some of the projects we support in partnership with The Travel Foundation, a charity that cares for local communities in our favourite holiday destinations by helping locals set up their own tourism businesses. The Travel Foundation’s work is supported by many leading UK travel companies.

Sri Lanka

Family in Sri Lanka with their new trees

World Care Fund donations have helped a newly established Tree Nursery in the Hiyare Rainforest to plant 100,000 trees. The goal is to restore the forest and re-vegetate coastal conservation areas, and the trees also provide tsunami-affected families with food and medicine.

That’s not all. The LINC Project in Beruwela has trained more than 70 beach vendors on how to talk and act with tourists. Since their training they’re now sharing the day’s takings and investing profits into a community fund that supports disadvantaged families.

Kenya

World Care Fund donations have supported the development of sustainable excursions to villages in the the Maasai Mara. The new fair payment system ensures they are able to invest back into the community, giving 165 people access to clean water and 300 children the opportunity to go to school.

Zambia

Students at Kalene High School, bringing light to the Sanhandu village

In Zambia, money from the World Care Fund is bringing clean and affordable power to communities, removing their dependence on diesel generators that are expensive and harmful to the environment. The new hydro-powered electricity is reaching schools, orphanages and a local hospital. At the hospital, the power is helping doctors carry out operations day and night, saving lives.
