The Eastern & Oriental Express is the ultimate centrepiece of a visit to the Far East. Singapore to Bangkok

Day 1 - Heathrow/Singapore:
Non-stop overnight flight on Singapore Airlines.

Day 2-4 - Singapore:
Private transfer to Shangri-La Hotel for 3 nights. (RO)

Day 5 - Eastern & Oriental Express:
Transfer to Keppel Road station and join the train. Depart Singapore and cross Malaysia via the causeway over the Straits of Johor. Enjoy the passing scenery as lunch is served in the restaurant. During the evening the train pauses in Kuala Lumpur. (L,D)

Day 6 - Eastern & Oriental Express:
After breakfast take a guided excursion to colonial Georgetown (Penang). Lunch on board as the train crosses into Thailand (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Eastern & Oriental Express / Bangkok:
After breakfast enjoy an excursion by boat along the River Kwai to the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, followed by an informative tour. Lunch on board before arriving in Bangkok around 3pm. Transfer to Shangri-La Hotel for 3 nights (B,L)

Days 8-9 - Bangkok:
At leisure. (RO)

Day 10 - Bangkok / Heathrow:
Private transfer to Bangkok airport for EVA Air flight to Heathrow arriving the same day.

Bangkok to Chaing Mai

Day 1 - Heathrow/Bangkok:
Non-stop overnight flight on EVA Air.

Day 2-4 - Bangkok:
Private transfer to Shangri-La Hotel for 3 nights. (RO)

Day 5 - Eastern & Oriental Express:
Transfer to Hualamphong Station after lunch and join the train. Depart Bangkok at 15:00. Afternoon tea is served as you travel into Northern Thailand. Later that evening enjoy dinner in one of the beautiful restaurant cars and retire to your compartment for one night on board (D).

Day 6-7 - Eastern & Oriental Express / Chiang Mai:
After breakfast disembark. Transfer to the Chedi Chiang Mai for 2 nights (B).

Day 8 - Chiang Mai / Bangkok / Heathrow:
Fly Thai Airways to Bangkok for onward EVA Air flight to Heathrow, arriving the same day.

Compartments:

There are two standards of accommodation to choose from, both offering air-conditioning and ensuite shower and WC. Pullman Compartments offer an upper and a lower berth, whilst the State Compartments have 2 single lower berths. During the day your steward converts Pullman and State compartments into a private seating area.

Dining:

Lunch and dinner are served in the two Restaurant Cars. Breakfast of freshly baked croissants, coffee or tea, juice and fruit is delivered to your compartment and for those passengers wishing to rise early to take advantage of the beautiful scenery, tea and coffee will be served for you in the Observation Car from 7.00am onwards.

Dress Code:

Smart casual during the day, however in the evenings gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie.
E&O Note: As space is restricted you are asked to pack a smaller suitcase for your time on board the train. Your main luggage will not be accessible until you leave the train.
