Full Itinerary

Day 1 - Gatwick/Muscat
Depart on Oman Air to Muscat. Met and transferred to a 4 star City hotel.

Day 2 - Muscat
Muscat city tour. First visit the Grand Mosque, a most beautiful architectural piece of work. From the Mosque drive through the Embassy road (please note that it is forbidden to take photographs). Next stop is the Muttrah souk, a traditional Omani market, offering a wide range of goods like Frankincense and beautiful silver handicrafts. On to the Bait Al Zubair Museum and the old city of Muscat. From here proceed on to see the Sultan’s Palace (video filming is prohibited) surrounded by the 2 Forts of Mirani and Jalali. The final stop is at the Al Bustan Palace hotel. Here you can stop for a coffee break or lunch (optional) or just a photo. Return to hotel around 13:30. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at 4 * Beach hotel, Crown Plaza, Muscat. (B/L/D).

Day 3 - Al Sawadi / Nizwa
Depart for Nizwa and visit Bahla fort on the way. Lunch at the Falaj Daris Hotel in Nizwa. After lunch visit Nizwa fort, which is famous for the enormous tower guarding the city, as Nizwa was once the capital of Oman. The Nizwa Souk is famous for its silver handicrafts and jewellery. Visit the natural springs of Tanuf. Check into the Nizwa Hotel for 2 nights. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Nizwa / Jabal Shams / Nizwa
Depart after breakfast to visit Jabal Shams, the highest mountain in Oman, and see breathtaking views from over the Grand Canyon of the Sultanate. Here one can also see the ancient rock carvings and paintings, which are said to be more than 2,000 years old. Experience an untamed and rugged countryside, a pristine world interrupted occasionally by minute settlements. Return to Nizwa hotel late afternoon. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Nizwa / Birkat
Al Mauz/Jabal Akhdar Depart after breakfast to Birkat Al Mauz, the village of clay. Enjoy the sights of lush green banana and date plantations. Drive on to Wadi Al Madeen, and Jabal Akhdar the green jewel of the Hajar Mountains. The village is 2000 metres above sea level and reached by a long and winding road passing through some stunning scenery. Enjoy the coolclimate and fresh breeze of the mountains. A picnic lunch is provided. On to Wadi Bani Habit (village of old houses in Arabic). The village overlooks a spectacular landscape of dramatic peaks and gorges. Check in at the Jabal Akhdar hotel. Day 6 - Jabal Akhdar / Sur
Depart for sur and on the way visit Wadi Bani Khalid, a beautiful clear river. Catch a glimpse of the pretty, scattered villages that cling precariously to the slopes of the rugged gorge. Drive to Wahiba Sands which offers an exhilarating 4x4 ‘dune bashing’ experience. In the middle of the desert enjoy a camel ride. Check-in to the Ras Al Had hotel, late afternoon. In the evening you will be picked up after dinner at around 9:00pm to see the giant green turtles nesting on the calm beaches of Ras Al Had. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Sur / Muscat
After breakfast return to Muscat. On the way see the fishermen’s harbour and and see dhows, the traditional Omani wooden boats being built by hand. Drive on to Wadi Shab (Tiwi). Visit the mausoleum of Bibi Miriam at the village of Qalhat and the Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater, created many years ago by a collapsing mountain. The hole is filled with bluegreen sea water. Check into the Crowne Plaza Muscat. (B)

Day 8 - Muscat/Gatwick
Transfer to airport for your Oman Air flight to Gatwick or continue your stay at one of the beach hotels in Muscat.
