Full Itinerary

Day 1 - London/Beijing
Overnight non-stop British Airways flight from Heathrow.

Day 2 - Beijing
Upon arrival at Beijing airport, luxury transfer to your centrally located hotel, the Shangri-La’s Kerry Centre, for three nights. Ultramodern in design with contemporary décor and comforts, this is the perfect base for exploring Beijing. Afternoon at leisure before a welcome dinner in a local restaurant. (D)

Day 3 - Beijing
A full day tour, including a walk in Tiananmen, one of the largest squares in the world, where the Great Hall of the people and other historical monuments stand. Spend the morning at The Forbidden City, located directly behind the Tiananmen tower gate, where the Ming and Qing Dynasty emperors and empresses lived and ruled from 1420 to 1924. After lunch, you will visit the Temple of Heaven, where the Emperors worshipped and prayed for a good harvest for farmers in the coming year, during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. evening at the Peking Opera. Day 4 - Beijing
Full day tour including the Great Wall at Badaling, about one and a half hours drive northwest of Beijing. This provides a good opportunity to see the countryside surrounding Beijing. Evening Peking Duck dinner in a local restaurant. (B, L, D)

Day 5 - Beijing/Xian
Morning visit to the Summer Palace. After lunch you will be transferred to Beijing airport for your flight to Xian. Upon arrival at Xian you will be transferred to your hotel, the Shangri-La’s Golden Flower, for two nights. This luxurious property offers first class service and a wonderfully hospitable atmosphere, just ten minutes from the bustling city centre. (B, L, D)

Day 6 - Xian
Morning visit to the Terracotta Warriors east of Xian. After lunch, visit the Wild Goose Pagoda and the City Wall. Evening Tang Dynasty show in a local theatre. (B, L, D)

Day 7 - Xian/Shanghai
Morning at leisure. After lunch, you will depart for the airport for your flight to Shanghai – the largest city in China. Upon arrival at Shanghai you will be transferred to the Pudong Shangri-La for two nights. This award-winning hotel, on the banks of the famous Huangpu River, offers breathtaking Bund views, superb comfort and attention to detail. (B, L, D)

Day 8 - Shanghai
Morning tour to the Yu Yuan Gardens with typical pagodas and classic architecture from the Qing Dynasty, and the Jade Buddha Temple. The rest of your time will be spent in Nanjing Road and the famous Bund. (B,L, D)

Day 9 - Shanghai/London
After breakfast, transfer to Shanghai airport for your British Airways flight home to London, arriving the same day.
