Day 1 - Heathrow/Beijing
Non-stop overnight flight on Air China.
Day 2 - Beijing
Transfer to the Novotel Xinqiao for 3 nights. (RO)
Day 3 - Beijing
China’s majestic capital city offers a wealth of heritage sites that are a must-see. Temples and palaces stand alongside beautiful green spaces, futuristic skyscrapers and superb neon
nightlife. Today you will step into the history of this fascinating country and wander around Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, which for over 500 years was only accessible
by the emperor and its closest dignitaries. After lunch, stroll along the Summer Palace, archetypal of all Chinese gardens, and be amazed by the stunning architecture of its pavilions,
bridges, towers and corridors. Evening visit to Peking Opera (optional, £20 per person). (L)
Day 4 - Beijing
Another exciting day which will take you to visit and walk along the Great Wall at Badaling. One of the greatest wonders of the world and a World Heritage site, the Great
Wall crosses deserts and mountains from east to west China, stretching approximately 4,000 miles. More than 2000 years old, it is the highlight of every trip to China thanks to
its sheer size and striking architecture. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will have a chance to see one of the Ming Emperor’s tombs. This evening you can enjoy the
culinary highlight of Beijing, a Peking duck dinner at a local restaurant (optional, £25 per person). (L)
Day 5 - Beijing/Xian
Fly Air China to Xian and transfer to the Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel for 2 nights. (RO)
Day 6 - Xian
Morning visit to the Terracotta Army, east of Xian. Life size terracotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations are the star features at the museum and
the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century. They are replicas of what the imperial guard should look like in the days of Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of
China, approx 1800 years ago. After lunch, visit the City Wall and the Wild Goose Pagoda. Evening Tang Dynasty Dinner show. (L,D)
Day 7 - Xian?Beijing
Morning at leisure. Afternoon Air China flight to Beijing and transfer to the Novotel Xinqiao for overnight stay. (RO)
Day 8 - Beijing/Heathrow
Air China flight to Heathrow, arriving the same day. (RO)
