Full Itinerary

Day 1: Beijing

Upon arrival at Beijing Airport, transfer to your hotel for three nights.

Overnight accommodation - Standard: Holiday Inn Temple of Heaven or similar. (D)

Day 2: Beijing

Full day sightseeing, including a walk through Tiananmen Square, one of the largest squares in the world, where you can see the Great Hall of the people and other historical monuments. You will also visit The Forbidden City, located directly behind the Tiananmen tower gate, where the Ming and Qing Dynasty Emperors and Empresses lived and ruled from 1420 to 1924. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven where the Emperors worshipped and prayed during the Ming and Qing Dynasties for a good harvest. Spend the evening at the Peking Opera with dinner.

Overnight accommodation - Standard: Holiday Inn Temple of Heaven or similar. (B,L,D)

Day 3: Beijing

Full day of sightseeing including the Great Wall at Badaling. You will be able to walk and climb or travel by cable car (price not included). After lunch, you will walk along the beautiful Sacred Way guarded by stone statues of the emperor's officers and officials and stone animals, dating from the 15th century. In the evening, enjoy a Peking duck dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 4: Beijing to Xian

After breakfast, depart the hotel for a morning visit to the Summer Palace. After lunch, depart for the airport for your flight to Xian (ticketed locally). Upon arrival in Xian, transfer to your hotel for two nights.

Overnight accommodation - Standard: Grand New World Xian or similar. (B,L,D)

Day 5: Xian

After breakfast in the hotel, depart for a full day of sightseeing including the Terracotta Warrior museum, which begins with a presentation film followed by a guided tour of the thousands of Terracotta Warriors and their chariots. After lunch, visit the Wild Goose Pagoda, a holy place for Buddhists. In the evening, dinner will be followed by the Tang Dynasty show in a local theatre.

Day 6: Xian to Beijing

Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Beijing (ticketed locally) and then either onwards to your next destination, or extend your stay in Beijing. (B)
