Encouraged by Edward VII, (then the Prince of Wales), Charbonnel et Walker first formed as a partnership between Mrs Walker and Mme. Charbonnel, the latter from the Maison Boissier chocolate house in Paris. The original shop opened at 173 New Bond Street in Mayfair and has remained in Bond Street ever since. It is now housed in one of London’s elegant arcades, the Royal Arcade on Old Bond Street.
Charbonnel et Walker chocolates are hand-made according to traditional recipes at. They are particularly renowned for their plain chocolate, made from the finest dark couverture, which has a luscious richness and unforgettable silky taste. Their luxurious hand made boxes, satin ribbons and complimentary gift-wrapping complete the perfect gift for every occasion.
Charbonnel et Walker have opened an exciting new concept, a Chocolate Café in Saks Fifth Avenue, New York. Walking into the café, an elegant glass chandelier following the curve of the counter makes an impressive first impression. With its chocolate fountain and moving display of delicious puddings and chocolates, it is a great venue to samples the hand made desserts that are made daily on the premises.
You can enjoy Charbonnel et Walker’s renowned drinking chocolates, traditional English desserts such as Sticky Toffee Chocolate Pudding or Apple Crumble, and already the café has become famous for its scrumptious Chocolate Truffle Brownies. A separate counter allows you to choose your own selection of Charbonnel chocolates to take home with any other chocolates delight or dessert on sale.
