The Conway Scenic Railroad departs historic downtown North Conway and offers two routes: the Valley Train and the Notch Train. The Valley Train is composed of vintage passenger cars and takes you on historic rail routes to Conway or Bartlett and back again. The Notch Train takes you on tracks laid in the 1870s past dramatic natural scenery, sheer bluffs, cascading brooks, steep ravines, and panoramic mountain vistas, across Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge to Crawford and Fabyan stations. There are themed events at the railroad, including Day out with Thomas, Polar-Express-themed trips in December, and a Railfan Weekend in late September.
This interactive science museum is one of the education efforts of the Mount Washington Observatory. The discovery centre allows you to explore the science of climate and weather through interactive exhibits like a wind room and flow tank. The science museum is in North Conway, but the main observation station is situated at the summit of Mount Washington. Tours are available here during the summer.
This museum features displays about the mountain and its weather, educating visitors about life and work on the summit, and the natural history of Mount Washington. Find out why the weather on Mount Washington is so severe, and browse exhibits on alpine flowers and the geological history of the Presidential Range.
